Crystal Palace are now eyeing a shock move for the Tottenham star who is ready to quit

Crystal Palace have been named as shock rivals to sign the Tottenham star who is ready to leave this summer.
Palace are preparing for an important summer as new players and the manager have been identified
Palace head into the summer facing the most significant period of change at Selhurst Park in years.
Oliver Glasner will leave at the end of the season, Adam Wharton is expected to follow him out the door for a nine-figure sum, and the club that won the FA Cup and Community Shield 12 months ago now needs to rebuild under a new manager and a new identity.
The executive search is already problematic.
Andoni Iraola was Palace’s first choice, but the Bournemouth head coach – who confirmed his departure from the Vitality Stadium at the end of the season – could be heading elsewhere, as reported by Sky Sports.
Thomas Frank, who was sacked by Tottenham in February following the tragedy in north London, has reportedly spoken to Steve Parish.
Frank’s seven-year record at Brentford – where he developed the likes of Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo and David Raya while often competing against the club’s strengths – is rumored to be the main reason for Parish’s interest.
Apart from the search for a new manager, Palace is also working on the summer.
Crystal Palace now want to bring in the £25m Coventry City star and Frank Lampard
Palace are planning to move for the “amazing” player.
An unexpected name entered the discussion as well, and one that will raise a fair few eyebrows.
Crystal Palace are eyeing a shock move for Tottenham star Cristian Romero
Sports Boom reports that Palace have made several checks on Cristian Romero, the Tottenham captain who looks certain to leave the club this summer.
Romero, 27, has a clause in his current Spurs contract – which runs until 2029 – which allows him to leave in the event of a setback.
With Tottenham sitting in the bottom three, without a Premier League win in 2026 and now without their captain for the rest of the season following a knee injury at Sunderland, this clause may have been established as a reality.
The Argentina World Cup winner is clearly not interested in breaking into the Championship, and is believed to be ‘ready to quit’ this summer.
However, having been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, reports of Palace registering an interest in Romero are surprising to say the least.
Parish could have his work cut out for him here, and competition across Europe and the top flight will be tough for a defender who will command a huge transfer fee.
For Palace, a defender of Romero’s caliber could represent a statement that signals the club’s need for change.
Whether they can secure a new manager, keep their squad fit and continue to look for such a player is the challenge facing Parish this summer.
Crystal Palace are now in a strong position to field an “elite” 4-2-3-1 to replace Glasner
