Aston Villa rival Atletico Madrid and Arsenal to sign Nicolò Tresoldi

Aston Villa have entered the race to sign the striker who has scored 23 goals this season and is being targeted by Atletico Madrid as a replacement for Julián Alvarez.

It looks like attacking stars will be front and center for Aston Villa this summer. Whether that relates to the potential sale of Morgan Rogers remains one of the many questions that will be answered in the coming months. In Villa’s ideal world, he will still play a starring role in the Midlands next season, but that ideal world doesn’t account for their persistent SCR problems.
Even they can’t deny the benefits of getting their star this summer. Rogers could command a fee similar to the £100m Jack Grealish cost Manchester City many months ago. If so, then Villa has financial freedom in waiting.

He is not the only one who may be headed for the exit door. Tammy Abraham is also questioning his future, despite joining the club in January. Looking for a place to start, he has reportedly attracted the attention of Leeds United and Sunderland.
The striker’s departure will leave Unai Emery short of attacking options behind Ollie Watkins, forcing those at Villa Park to turn to a more impressive position.
According to The Athletic, Aston Villa are now competing with Atletico Madrid to sign Nicolo Tresoldi in what could also deal Arsenal a disappointing blow.
The Gunners are said to be interested in the Club Brugge player at the start of the year, but could be beaten by their Premier League rivals.
“Special” Tresoldi can replace Ollie Watkins
When Abraham arrived in the January transfer window, it was clear that he would provide Watkins as a backup rather than a replacement. In Tresoldi’s case, things may be different. The Club Brugge star is coming off the back of a 23-goal campaign in all competitions and has rivals like Atletico Madrid. If he doesn’t come to replace Watkins, he might not come with anything.
At 30 years old, Watkins won’t be at his prime forever. There were already signs that he couldn’t be the star of the show every week this season and having someone like Tresoldi step up to the plate would be helpful for Emery.

Dubbed “special” by Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann after being called up to the nation’s 2026 World Cup squad, Tresoldi has been in clinical form over the past 12 months and has had more than a chance to pull off a big move this summer.
