World Cup 2026 lineup, stats and preview, TV channel, live streaming online and prediction

Canada will face Qatar in their second Group B match at the 2026 World Cup, with the hosts hoping to make history with a win that could be enough to advance to the knockout stage.

Jesse Marsch’s side came from behind to draw 1-1 with Bosnia-Herzegovina in their opening game of the tournament and pick up their first World Cup point.

However, given the intensity with which they played and the excellence they have shown for a long time, Canada may consider themselves unlucky for not winning the World Cup in Toronto for the first time.

They will be favorites to do so in Vancouver, although Marsch and his side will be wary of the resilience Qatar showed in their draw with Switzerland.

Switzerland scored 26 goals in that game, but the floodgates did not open after Breel Embolo’s penalty, whose injury-time goal earned Qatar a point.

The Gulf side are also looking for their first World Cup finals win, and Canadian defender Luc de Fougerolles knows they will have to be ruthless to deny Qatar that success.

“We [are] fine-tuning the finale in training,” said de Fougerolles.

“We created opportunities [against Bosnia]. The next step is to eliminate those opportunities and kill the game. I’m sure we’ll take some of them.”
