Ben Jacobs shared an update on Sandro Tonali

Respected broadcast journalist Ben Jacobs took over X to clarify the developing situation on Tyneside, confirming that Eddie Howe’s side are preparing for a very competitive battle.

According to Jacobs, Tottenham and Manchester City are both busy with discussions with the player’s camp.

New Spurs coach Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly identified his teammates as the front-runner to rebuild the North London club’s midfield.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are eyeing Tonali as a top-class midfielder to add top-flight tactical depth to their engine room.

They are not the only ones keeping a close eye on the situation. Arsenal inquired in January and are still considering midfield options this summer, meaning a late exit from Mikel Arteta’s side cannot be completely ruled out as they look to complete their plan.

Jacobs shared the following update:

“Newcastle has been preparing bids for Sandro Tonali and is expecting many players.

“Arsenal inquired in January and are still considering options for midfielders this summer. A return to Italy is highly unlikely due to cost, although Tonali wants to play in Serie A again one day. Newcastle want around £100m including add-ons.”

Newcastle have set a staggering price tag of £100m

Although Tonali is reportedly open to exploring these big projects, any potential buyer would have to break his transfer records to secure him.

Newcastle hold an incredibly strong negotiating position, looking at around £100m plus add-ons to let their midfielder go.

A return to Italy is highly unlikely due to cost, although Tonali wants to play in Serie A again one day.
