West Ham and Hull City are racing to sign Arsenal’s “unplayable” striker
West Ham United and Hull City have now joined the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Amario Cozier-Duberry.
At present, a move to Hull may be more attractive, given that Premier League football is available, but signing for West Ham in the Championship could be the logical next step, following the winger’s impressive performances in League One last season.
Cozier-Duberry played a key role in Bolton Wanderers’ return to the second tier, netting 23 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions, two of which came in the play-offs.
The 21-year-old also caught the eye of Mikel Arteta during his time at the Emirates Stadium, according to former Arsenal U18 coach Jack Wilshere, who said: “Amario is very interesting and Mikel [Arteta] you love him. He reminds me of Bukayo Saka, who plays in the same position as him, he needs to be better at making decisions like Bukayo does, but he is definitely entertaining.
“Sometimes he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can build a team and have a game plan, but when you have people like that you get a chance.”
The right-winger did not make the grade at Arsenal, being sold to Brighton, before being loaned to Blackburn Rovers for the 2024-25 season, where he managed just 713 minutes of game time in the Championship.
However, the way the boy played for Bolton suggests that he is ready for another chance in the second division.

According to journalist Simon Collings, West Ham and Hull are now interested in signing Cozier-Duberry, but Brighton are determined to keep him.
The Premier League side have already rejected a £5m bid for Anderlecht, but are now facing growing interest, with Paris FC and Red Bull Salzburg also interested.

Signing Cozier-Duberry could be a huge gamble for Hull, ahead of the Premier League campaign, as the Arsenal man is yet to feature in the top flight. Sergej Jakirovic could do with bringing tried and tested players to the Premier League, and a move to the London Stadium might make more sense, as Nuno should be able to build a team that wins promotion regardless of selling Mateus Fernandes for a big fee. |
