Tottenham are plotting a sensational swoop for Sandro Tonali in a major summer transfer move

Tottenham are planning a move to sign Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali this summer.
Following a tumultuous campaign in which Spurs secured Premier League survival on the final day, the club’s management are set to back head coach Roberto De Zerbi with a key squad overhaul.
Having already secured the high-profile signings of former Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson and Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi, the Lilywhites have now set their sights on the highly-touted Italian midfielder to lead their new era.

Tottenham enter the race for Sandro Tonali
According to a stunning update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano at X, Tottenham have officially joined the fierce battle for Tonali’s signature.
De Zerbi reportedly views the former AC Milan dynamo as the absolute “star” needed to transform his midfield and quickly raise the technical and physical levels at the club.
However, Romano added that protecting the Italian will be a big challenge. Spurs are ready to face Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester City, both of whom have been heavily interested.
An Italian journalist posted the following update on X:

While Manchester United are reportedly worried about negotiations due to Newcastle’s £100 million valuation, Tottenham’s decision to enter the race shows an ambitious statement of intent under De Zerbi’s management.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already started making contact with people close to Tonali, who view him as the perfect box-to-box midfielder to fill in for Declan Rice.
Whether Spurs can successfully hijack a deal from the Gunners comes down to guaranteed game time and project alignment.
Unlike Arsenal, where Tonali would face stiff competition from a rotating roster of top stars, Tottenham could offer the midfielder a guaranteed focal point role at the heart of De Zerbi’s tactical rebuild.
Newcastle’s failure to qualify for European football has left them at risk of a top-flight buyout, and if Tottenham can match the required financial package, De Zerbi could pull off one of the most impressive signings of the summer window.
