The River Throws You Through It

Graduated from Stash List #3: Lara at the Top of Her Career: Colt Emerson (#3), Henry Bolte (#4)
1. Dodgers RHP River Ryan (27, AAA)
It is set to jump to baseball’s best team in the near future. It features a cutter that would have stopped printing a few decades ago. A 27.3 percent strikeout-minus-walk rate and a 1.00 WHIP suggest he’ll be effective at pitching.
2. Mariners LHP Kade Anderson (21, AA)
It’s easy to understand why this youngster has allowed just seven runs in 38.2 innings (1.63 ERA). It’s a good move for Seattle, but it would be great for all parties involved if Seattle made some room for him, and it’s hard to rule out a potential move in their area. They have current and future bosses almost everywhere. It feels like they have three games under 500 today.
3. Twins SS Kaelen Culpepper (23, AAA)
I argued this: Minnesota sent Royce Lewis to Triple-A and moved Culpepper to third base at the same time? Talk about a lack of foresight. Couldn’t you send Culpepper over there last week and call him up as Lewis goes down? Anyway, it will happen soon.
4. Reds SS Edwin Arroyo (22, AAA)
It’s hard to understand why this boy is so young even though he was cut. 348/.408/.604 with ten home runs, eight stolen bases and a 15.1 percent batting average. I suspect it will fix itself soon.
5. Nationals 3B Yohandy Morales (23, AAA)
I understand that Morales is not perfect. His bat speed and bat technique give right-field focus to his approach, and he has a good ability to punish fastballs that take up a lot of ground, making him look like a hitter. The biggest difference between Triple-A and the majors is the constant rain of high velocity, so I can see why they don’t put Morales in the middle of their lineup. Still, he’s slashing .352/.433/.599 with ten home runs and a 25.1 percent strikeout rate, which at least gives it a chance.
6. Angels 2B Christian Moore (23, AAA)
Hitting .361/.452/.472 with six hits (14.3%) and six walks in nine games since coming off the injured list. 2B Oswald Peraza has had something of a breakout season with his 130+ wRC in 46 games, but he can move around the infield, and 3B Vaughn Grissom hasn’t locked down that spot in the same way. Moore should get his next shot soon.
7. Rockies SS Cole Carrigg (24, AAA)
With 26 stolen bases in 45 games, Carrigg can help us in the speed department. He is also slashing .356/.418/.533 with a 13.9 percent slugging percentage. Mickey Moniak hit the injured list on Friday with tendinitis in his ankle, so this could be Carrigg’s moment.
8. Luis Lara Producers (21, AAA)
I’m starting to think I moved to Lara too soon. Milwaukee recalled Blake Perkins when they opened the lineup for Brandon Lockridge, and it makes sense considering all of their injured hitters are back and starting to play well at the same time. It’s all coming down to the Brewers, so they might not need Lara’s craft for much longer.
9. Twins 1B Aaron Sabato (26, AAA)
Being thin on the floor at this time of year, no offense intended for Sabato, who is having a very good season despite hitting 27.3 percent of the time, slugging .694 with ten home runs.
10. White Sox BY Braden Montgomery (22, AAA)
Chicago is winning a lot of games and has a legitimate shot at making the playoffs, maybe even winning the division. Montgomery has only been in Triple-A for 16 games, but the club tends to promote guys after a short stint in Charlotte whether they’ve been competitive or not.
