The £90m defender is now “prioritizing” Liverpool this summer
Liverpool have received a major boost in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven this summer, with the Dutchman ready to ditch Manchester United for a move to Anfield.
Van de Ven made a decision for Liverpool
Much of this focus is on Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson this weekend. They are determined to end their Liverpool careers, full of historic success. There will hardly be a dry eye inside Anfield on Sunday as this farewell takes place.
However, after that goodbye, there may be a forgotten exit. It is worth remembering that Ibrahima Konate is yet to sign a new contract at the club and is set to leave as a free agent this summer. Brentford could also be his last game for Liverpool.
That leaves the Reds with another farewell option to bring in and, perhaps more importantly, a central midfielder to replace him in the coming months. That is why any business can be done early and why a Premier League rival would be a suitable option.
According to TeamTalk, Van de Ven is now “prioritising” a move to Liverpool this summer and is ready to ignore interest from Man United to make the move.
Sources told TeamTalk: “Sources suggest he could choose Liverpool over rivals, including Manchester United, without hesitation if both clubs put formal offers on the table.”
With that, Liverpool could be hoping for an Everton win to help relegate Spurs this Sunday, as Van de Ven’s price tag could reportedly remain at a hefty £90m if the Lilywhites avoid the drop.

It would make the Dutchman, who shares an agent with teammate Ryan Gravenberch, the third most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history and more expensive than Virgil van Dijk – giving the Reds plenty to consider this summer.
Salah was “happy” with the style last year, Slot said
Although it will be an emotional farewell on Sunday, Salah made sure to take one last shot at Arne Slot before bowing out.
The Egyptian has publicly criticized Liverpool’s poor form and style in a shocking message on social media, saying they should always play ‘heavy metal football’. Space, in what has been the theme of the season, has responded.
“There’s a lot to consider; first you say you want to play that style and then you say it’s not my style. I think Mo enjoyed the style we played last year as it led to us winning the league.
“Football has changed, football has changed, but we both want the best for Liverpool and that is to fight for trophies, which we haven’t done this season.
“He and the team – and I was included in that – brought back the league title after five years and we want to challenge for that next season and continue to improve the team. That’s my decision about it.”
As things stand, the Slot has ruled out Salah. Whether that remains true when the current campaign ends remains a big question, however.
