Spurs could agree deal to sign £60m star “soon”

Tottenham Hotspur are regrouping Roberto De Zerbi’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, in an effort to learn from past mistakes.
Cristian Romero is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, but efforts are being made to fight this. Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson will both join the Lilywhites when their contracts expire at the end of the month, and an opening bid has been put on the table for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke.
Attack at the back is important, and it shouldn’t be lost on fans that De Zerbi brings together the backline of ball-playing full-backs, but Spurs’ lack of attacking depth this season has left fans yearning for more quality players.
Spurs have agreed a deal for the Premier League player
James Maddison appeared on the bench in Tottenham’s final three games of the Premier League season, and while the 29-year-old was inevitably rusty after suffering an ACL injury, you could see the natural brilliance shining through. Spurs lack that.

Expected Goals (xG) is a metric designed to measure the chance of a shot leading to a goal.
Maddison will play a big role next year, but he will need creative support, especially from the attacking flanks. Randal Kolo Muani will be gone following a well-buried loan, but it is important for ENIC Group to find someone to replace him.
According to Fabrizio Romano himself, that man could be Manchester City’s Savinho, who is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer after falling to the brink under Pep Guardiola.
Tottenham tried to sign the Brazilian midfielder last year, approaching a £60m bid, but City eventually pulled out of talks.
However, Romano has now confirmed that a deal could be completed “soon” after talks, with Savinho poised to join the north Londoners and strengthen the starting line-up under De Zerbi’s management.
Why Maddison will love Savinho at Spurs
Savinho didn’t have a great season in the Premier League for Manchester City, but he hit his stride towards the end of the season, and his footwork and ability on the ball could see him develop into a more important role at Tottenham.
A powerful winger is exactly what Spurs need. His profile is one of great creativity and speed, and he has been described as “one of the best U21s in Europe” by talent scout Jacek Kulig in the past.
Now 22, Savinho has matured and could relish the opportunity to become a focal point for Spurs, showing in the 2024/25 season his impressive potential, racking up eight assists in just 21 Premier League starts, creating 11 big chances and completing 1.8 dribbles per game on average.
Maddison, who is among the best creators in the Premier League when fit and firing, will be happy to play alongside the South American defender. He knows how to pick a pass, and that versatility will pay dividends for a Tottenham team that has been largely dull this season, sending them on a spin.

These types of players have not been available for Spurs of late, and adding them in goal could make the difference in sealing the pack chasing Europe after the summer break.
There is no doubt that De Zerbi’s appointment has had a huge impact on Tottenham’s struggling squad, and Savinho can help take them to the next level, adding some flair to a very stable base.
Savinho is the real deal, but he needs to play regularly, and on Tottenham’s left wing, he could find the right conditions to realize his potential, especially with Maddison pulling the strings next to him.
