Newcastle have joined Coventry in the race for Fikayo Tomori as the inevitable result emerges
It’s been another bad summer for Newcastle United so far. They missed their top attacking team in Victor Munoz and their top midfield team in Johan Manzambi. Both deals were scrapped and the Magpies were forced to return to their Groundhog rejection days.
However, they kick. Those at St James’ Park have now turned to their backline and have joined the race to sign Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan and Coventry City.

It’s not often that a Scudetto-winning defender with Premier League and Champions League experience is available for €20m (£17m) and that’s what makes Tomori an option worth buying.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport and relayed by Sport Witness, Newcastle and Coventry have received the green light to sign Tomori and the defender’s exit from Milan is now seen as inevitable.
He only has one year left on his current deal, hence the price tag. It is now up to the two Premier League clubs to turn their interest into a gift.

As a centre-back partnership, Tomori and Thiaw could give Newcastle their best duo since Sven Botman and Fabian Schar sat together. The Milan man will bring more experience and more success to face Thiaw, while the Newcastle man will retain the upper hand of the duel.
It’s still a long way off for Tomori to be a Premier League player again, but a move away from Milan certainly looks on the cards this summer.
