Arsenal make big move to sign £170m star after Berta holds direct talks

Arsenal have made progress in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, who have held direct talks with Andrea Berta.
Jeremie Aliadiere believes Mikel Arteta will need more options in the striker department, with Gabriel Jesus likely to leave, and the former midfielder believes Alvarez could be a good addition to the Spanish side.
“I know that Gyokeres has had a successful season, but it is clear that he will need someone else who can play there.
“But for me, if you tell me that Alvarez is happy to come to Arsenal, I will be with him tomorrow.” I think he is a fantastic player and we saw that again against England. [at the World Cup]. He runs for himself and Messi. He presses himself. And that’s the type of player I think I want to see at Arsenal.”
Aliadiere impressed with Argentina’s performance at the World Cup, scoring once in eight games, and has been a consistent source of goals and assists since joining Manchester City ahead of the 2022-23 season, before moving to Atletico in the summer of 2024.

Arsenal have made progress in their pursuit of Julian Alvarez
According to a report from Caught Offside, Arsenal have now succeeded in their bid to sign Alvarez, who has held direct talks with Berta.
Atletico Madrid have now told representatives of the Argentine star that they will consider selling him this summer, suggesting the Gunners may be able to secure his signature, as the former Man City man would be open to a return to the Premier League.
The Spanish side have put an asking price of at least €200m (£170m), which shows how much they value the centre-forward, who has been highly praised by football commentator and YouTuber Zaan.
Arsenal are keen to sign a new winger alongside Julian Alvarez
The Gunners are chasing a new striker, but are also keen to sign a new left-back, and have been forced to move on from Morgan Rogers, with the Englishman set to sign for Chelsea.
There is no shortage of options, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, AFC Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White all named as potential targets.
