Liverpool will enter club-to-club talks to sign Bobby Firmino

When you name some of the most iconic trios in history, most people might make an argument for the Three Musketeers or the three wise men.

However, many Liverpool fans would argue that Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah deserve the title, given their efforts on Merseyside.

Like the Three Wise Men, the aforementioned talents have been tasked with delivering the goods – something they’ve found plenty of during their time at Anfield.

Their free-flowing and relentless attacking style saw the Reds win six major trophies during their time together – including the Premier League and Champions League.

Today, current manager Arne Slot is eyeing his world-beating forward to aid his efforts to bring back title glory to Merseyside once again.

Liverpool are set to enter talks for a £87m sensation

Despite splashing out over £200m on the signings of Hugo Ekitiké and Alexander Isak last summer, Liverpool are once again on the hunt for additional attacking reinforcements.

PSG star Bradley Barcola is one of the players who are being watched closely at the moment, and the Frenchman has emerged as the main target when the window opens.

It has been reported that he could be available for a fee of around £62m, after falling foul of Luis Enrique’s orders to target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s supporters in recent months.

However, Barcola is not the only striker being chased before the start of the season, with RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande once again linked with a move to Merseyside.

According to Football Insider, Slot’s men will open early talks with the Bundesliga club over a deal to sign the 19-year-old this summer.

The report also claims that the good relationship between the two clubs could lead to a potential deal – while beating out the likes of PSG for youth signings.

Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig

A fee in the region of €100m (£87m) is expected to be demanded by Leipzig this summer, but the Reds hope to lower the fee by opening early talks for his services.

Why Diomande will be Liverpool’s next Firmino

Diomande will have high expectations to hit the ground running at Anfield, especially given the standards Firmino produced during his time as a Liverpool player.

The Brazilian arrived from Hoffenheim for around £28m, and the striker was an unknown value to many Reds supporters before his switch.

However, such a deal has proved to be part of a remarkable business, with the number nine registering over 100 goals during his 362 appearances on Merseyside.

The 34-year-old’s efforts have often gone under the radar compared to Mane and Salah, but his clever movement and link-up play have allowed the aforementioned duo to thrive at Anfield.

Because of this, any striker who joins the club, especially one from the Bundesliga, will have high hopes of success – something Diomande may face next term.

Should the deal be completed, he will emulate Firmino in joining the Reds from Germany’s top flight, but the Ivorian has earned himself a reputation based on his numbers this season.

Despite the 2025/26 season being the youngster’s first in Europe’s top five leagues, he has taken to life like a duck to water – after which he registered 13 goals and eight assists in all competitions.

His base stats also show the quality he possesses, which could make him a great addition to the Slot team during the upcoming trade window.

Diomande, called “for generations” by journalist Bence Bocsak, has completed 4.4 dribbles per 90 this season – more than any player in the Bundesliga.

Demonstrating his incredible ability to handle the ball, he has managed to finish 60% of his attempts to play – despite trying more than any player this season.

As a result, he has been a constant threat in the final third in 2025/26, resulting in Diomande registering 7.2 touches in the opposition’s 90 box and creating 2.2 chances in 90.

Just like his dribbles, he ranked high among others in the category, and ranked above 95% of other players in both of the aforementioned areas.

Such qualities, along with his incredible scoring ability, would make him a perfect addition to the Slot man attack – albeit at a hefty price.

At just 19 years old, he has time to develop over the coming years, which could easily see him become one of the most dangerous top talents in Europe.

There is no reason why he cannot have the same impact as Firmino at Anfield in 2026/27 and beyond, which could see the youngster develop into a cult hero in his own right.
