Liverpool are in talks this week to sign a bigger talent than Yan Diomande

Liverpool’s priority this summer is to buy forwards, but in the summer of 2017, Jurgen Klopp and FSG made signing Virgil van Dijk their dream goal, and they are still pushing for Mohamed Salah.

After years, Salah has played his last game for Liverpool, and Liverpool need to build a world-class front line that Andoni Iraola can sing. So there is no pressure.

Yan Diomande is the top target to make that happen, but just as Van Dijk has been Liverpool’s top priority, FSG are ready to strengthen other positions ahead of the new season at Anfield.

Liverpool are in talks to sign a bigger talent than Diomande

Liverpool are hoping they can put things in order ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Signing an elite winger of Diomande’s caliber, with the strength and physicality to replace Salah, would be an important step.

David Ornstein of The Athletic has confirmed that Liverpool have established contact with RB Leipzig, but the Bundesliga club do not want to sell. Still, something needs to be done, and FSG wants to wrap up this priority by signing up quickly so it can move on to other goals.

After all, Liverpool could still raid another German outfit for a potentially bigger talent prospect than Diomande.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are still pushing to complete a deal for young midfielder Kenneth Eichhorn, with fresh talks taking place in the past 48 hours.

Bayern Munich are Liverpool’s closest rivals in the battle to transfer the star of Hertha Berlin, who has entered the first team of the Bundesliga 2 team this season, but has dampened his recent interest, presenting FSG with a clear shot to bring the amazing youngster to Anfield.

Why is Eichhorn a greater talent than Diomande

Eichhorn may not have the same buzz as Diomande with his Bundesliga performances, but it is worth noting that he is three years younger than the Ivory Coast man, and is just starting to make waves at the top level.

Described as a “crazy talent” by commentator Raj Chohan, the deep-lying midfielder is unfazed in high-pressure situations, already confident in his technical ability and defensive ability.

Former Hertha player Toni Leistner marveled at the youngster’s “unbelievable” quality in the engine room, putting down his age to excel in midfield for Hertha in the Bundesliga 2., where he has started 14 times this season.

Liverpool wouldn’t include Eichhorn in the starting line-up, but he has the talent to play for Iraola’s side in the near future, potentially making a great addition to the Spaniard’s challenging engine room.

Sir Matt Busby once said that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough, and it’s a slogan Liverpool seem to have embraced, aiming to replace Salah on the right wing with a striker 14 years younger.

Whether Eichhorn makes the same immediate impact that Diomande will be expected to after his big-money arrival remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that the young German has the potential to be the nucleus of Liverpool’s midfield, a long-term number six.

Liverpool’s strategy this summer is clear: FSG hopes to sign young and emerging talents who can secure Anfield’s future at the top of the European pyramid for many years to come.

It’s always easier said than done, but Eichhorn has the potential to be a star, and Liverpool can help him develop in the years to come.
