Everton begin the process of signing the England star

At one point this season, it looked like Everton would be playing European football for the first time in eight years under David Moyes.

The Toffees were strong in the race for an eighth-placed finish back in April, but their form towards the end of the campaign ended up dashing any dreams the fans had harbored.

However, a winless run in the final seven games of the Premier League season saw the club finish the 2025/26 campaign in 13th place – just ten points clear of the relegation zone.

It’s certainly a step in the right direction for the Toffees, but this summer will be a crucial time for Moyes and the club as they try to bring the glory days to Hill Dickinson.

Although the transfer window doesn’t open until early June, the recruitment team have done their due diligence and identified a number of potential summer signings.

Everton begin the process of signing Moyes’ midfielder

In the past few days, Everton have been linked with a number of talents to help get the club promoted to the Premier League in 2026/27.

Chelsea striker Liam Delap has emerged as another potential transfer target this summer, after failing to live up to his place as the Blues’ number nine this season.

He could be sold this window, with a £30m fee expected, but the likes of Newcastle United and Leeds United have also been linked with an interest in the 23-year-old.

The Englishman is not the only player in the management team at the moment, there is Brighton & Hove Albion winger Solly March another player who is highly praised behind the scenes.

According to TEAMtalk, the Toffees have expressed an interest in the 31-year-old, and the foundations have been laid before he leaves in the summer.

It is reported that the England player will leave the Seagulls for free at the end of June as Fabian Hurzeler’s men have decided not to sign a new contract.

A TEAMtalk article claims that around seven top-flight clubs are interested in March this window, which could see a major transfer battle in the coming weeks.

Why March will be Everton’s next Grealish Moyes

Last summer, there was much excitement among Everton fans after the club secured the signing of Jack Grealish on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The 30-year-old’s proven quality and experience of playing in England’s top flight made him an excellent addition, with his early form on Merseyside supporting the excitement behind the deal.

He registered four assists in his first three league games for Moyes’ men, but fitness problems would abruptly end his success at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Grealish broke his foot in January, which subsequently ended his season, with the Toffees missing a player of his caliber in the final third.

It remains to be seen whether the management will activate his £50m buyout option this summer, but other targets will now be drawn up should a permanent deal not be reached.

Grealish

March is just one player being considered by the club at the moment, and the Englishman could become the next version of Grealish’s manager on Merseyside.

On loan at Everton, he has also had his share of injury problems in recent times, after which he made just 19 appearances in the last three seasons.

However, he has also enjoyed great success in the Premier League, as seen by his tally of 14 combined goals and assists during the 2022/23 campaign – helping the Seagulls secure European football.

The 31-year-old, described as “amazing” by journalist Kathryn Batte, plays in a similar style to Grealish – as he likes to play laterally and cut inside to his strong foot.

He has amassed a catalog of excellent goals during his time at the AMEX, with many of his efforts highlighting his ability to get past the opposition before firing home.

Last season, the midfielder scored an excellent 2.8 per 90 – putting him in the top 2% of strikers in England’s top flight.

He also managed to create 1.7 chances for his teammates in 90, highlighting the same levels of creativity that Grealish has produced on Merseyside this term.

March’s injury problems will no doubt be of great concern to fans, but he has always shown that he can provide goods in the forward areas when he is fully fit.

A Grealish deal may be the first option for fans, but a March deal could provide a cheaper but more effective alternative for Moyes in his hunt for success with the Toffees.
