Daniel Peretz now wants to leave Southampton, advanced talks have been held
Southampton are now aiming to sign a deal for the “unbelievable” player, with manager Tonda Eckert a big fan.
The Saints are determined to stick with Eckert despite the Spygate scandal
Despite the Spygate scandal barring Saints from the Championship play-off final, known as football’s most lucrative game, owner Dragan Solak has no plans to part ways with Eckert.
Solak says: “I think he deserves a second chance and I would give it to him. My full support would be behind him, because I think he is a very capable manager.”
“I believe that Tonda did not know that he was breaking the law. My personal opinion and that of the board is that he is a manager who deserves our support and our support.”
“Obviously I will seek advice from the team. I will seek advice from the players, from the fans. But yes, if it is my decision in the end, it stays.”
In his message to the fans, the 33-year-old player has apologized for his actions that led to his team being eliminated from the play-offs.
A four-point penalty was also issued, which will apply next season, and will make it more difficult for the German team to qualify for automatic promotion next season.
However, some of the Saints’ summer transfer targets do not appear to have been deterred by the punishment.
Southampton are entering advanced talks to sign an “unbelievable” player.
According to journalist Alfie House, Southampton are now in “advanced talks” to sign Daniel Peretz on a permanent basis, following the Bayern Munich goalkeeper’s loan move to St Mary’s after arriving in January.
Peretz has been attracting interest from other clubs, but he is “willing” to join the Saints on a permanent deal, and the club’s management want to get a deal done quickly.
Israel is looking to help Eckert’s side secure promotion next season, after a strong second half of the 2025-26 campaign, in which they took 47 points from their last 20 games, four more than any other Championship club.
Eckert is excited about the impact the 25-year-old has made while lending money, saying in March: “Daniel was unbelievable. There was never any doubt about his quality, but as a goalkeeper, you need to find a certain rhythm. I think he gets better game by game.”
The former Maccabi Tel Aviv man conceded just 18 goals in 20 Championship games for the Saints, while collecting clean sheets, two more than Gavin Bazunu managed to amass in 25 second-tier games.
With that in mind, signing Peretz is a no-brainer for Southampton.
