Bayern CEO gives updates on Harry Kane and Michael Olise

Bayern Munich will hold talks with Harry Kane over a new contract at the end of the season and have ruled out any idea of selling Michael Olise, with chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge saying ‘no price will put us off’.

Kane’s current deal expires next summer but the release clause that allowed him to leave for around £57million has expired and the England captain is expected to extend his stay at the Bundesliga champions.

The 32-year-old enjoyed another fine season with Bayern, netting 53 goals in all competitions to help the club retain their domestic title and take them to the semi-finals of the Champions League and the final of the DFB-Pokal.

Bayern CEO is bullish on Kane’s future

And Rummenigge is hopeful that the former Tottenham man will sign a new deal despite reports of interest from Barcelona as they look to replace Robert Lewandowski.

In an extensive interview with t-online, he said: “Bringing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich was an important coup in the history of the club. It is known that he had an exit clause. He did not use it and thus showed that he will definitely stay in Munich.

“And now those who are in charge of operational matters will have discussions with him sometime after the season with the clear intention of extending his contract because Harry has been changed under. [Bayern head coach] Vincent Kompany.”

Rummenigge continued: “He has always been an outstanding striker who scored a lot of goals. But now he is a striker who allows himself to drop back into midfield and from there he brings Michael Olise and Luis Díaz to play with his wonderful long passes. This is very important in our game.”

Kane continued to plunder goals at an impressive rate. These are his stats for the 2025/26 season.

Bundesliga 28 33
Champions League 12 12
DFB-Pokal 5 7

Bayern have no intention of selling Olise either

Olise’s relationship with Kane has been key to Bayern’s success this season and the French defender is reportedly on Real Madrid’s wish list. A fee of £200m has been mentioned but Rummenigge is adamant that the club will not sell the 24-year-old player.

Asked if Bayern could turn down an offer of that magnitude, he said: “Now I’ll tell you a story from the past. In 2009 we had a fantastic offer for Franck Ribéry from Chelsea. That would have been a new world transfer record at the time.

“I took it to our CFO at the time Karl Hopfner and Uli Hoeneß. We spent two hours discussing what to do with this offer. That day we decided something important: that in the future we will not be able to sell a player that we can miss from a sporting point of view. And this unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Olise, that will not make us less valuable.

“He’s an amazing player. I also like that he doesn’t hold back and is almost media-shy. This is different in today’s world. He’s a good person and on the field he’s outstanding. That’s why I’m not surprised that he’s incredibly popular with our fans.”
