Arsenal are ready to make a move to sign the £129m star

After winning the Premier League title Arsenal are ready to make a big splash in the transfer window.
Josh Kroenke has assured fans that plans have begun to solidify while Mikel Arteta wants their desire to be shown as they aim to win the league back to back and take home their first Champions League crown.
To do this, there seems to be an awareness that the Gunners need to improve in the final third.
Bukayo Saka endured his worst season while Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli did not provide much help from many areas. Martinelli scored once in the league while Trossard endured a barren spell of 25 games before scoring again against West Ham a few weeks ago.
So, there’s a lot of money to put aside and sign up for the upgrade. Morgan Rogers appears to be the number one target at the moment but prying him away from Aston Villa will be tricky.
Rogers is one of three big-money players Arsenal want to sign
Last week Rogers went with the England team to Florida where they were training before the World Cup. He then played the first 45 minutes as the Three Lions beat New Zealand 1-0 on Saturday.
However, at the end of the World Cup, is his time at Aston Villa over? Thomas Tuchel has said that he will not stand in the way of the players discussing their future in this competition, which is good news for Arsenal in this case.
Reports last week suggested the Gunners were already holding talks with the player’s camp, although even if they were to convince Villa to sell him it would take anywhere between £80m-£100m.

Arsenal’s most expensive signing of all time
The Gunners have spent a lot of money in recent years.
Rogers is not the only Premier League player on the club’s radar. Eli Junior Kroupi is being eyed to strengthen the strikers’ positions but is also expected to fetch money in the same position as the Villa man. Bournemouth do not want to sell the French striker.
If those are the price tags involved they should do everything they can to sign Julian Alvarez instead. Previous reports in the build-up to the summer market have revealed that Arsenal are very interested in the Argentine but there are few obstacles in stopping other interested parties, PSG and Barcelona.
According to Spanish reports this weekend, via GOAL, Alvarez’s favorite place this summer is Barca but with Atletico Madrid’s huge asking price of £129m in mind, which proves unacceptable to the Catalan giants.
Because of this, it is worth noting that Arsenal are essentially the ‘only’ club willing to make a tangible bid to sign Alvarez.
Why Alvarez will be a better signing than Rogers and Kroupi
In Rogers and Kroupi, Arsenal have identified two of the best young players in the Premier League.
Their interest should come as no surprise, especially when you consider that Arteta likes to sign proven players from England’s top flight. However, signing both this summer would be scary considering the fees involved.
For Rogers, the north Londoners could sign a player who can solve two problems, especially their problems on the left side where Rogers works but he may face a lack of magic in those who played the number 10 position.
The Englishman has won the PFA Young Player of the Year and has now scored 14 goals in consecutive seasons. He is a strong runner, technically astute and looks ready for a big move now. However, it could be argued that Arsenal already have a similar player profile in Eberechi Eze.
As they look to strengthen that left side an out and out player may be selected.
Kroupi can also be an amazing find. He is one of the best young players in the world. No youngster has scored more goals (13) in his first Premier League season than him.
At just 19 years old, this world-class Cherries striker is on his feet but he hasn’t played spectacularly and there is always the fear that someone could be a miracle.
Alvarez, however, is no surprise, he is a proven talent and the complete package. He can score goals, he can assist goals and he has been doing it at an extremely high level for some time. This would be a great upgrade to the likes of Havertz and Gyokeres.

It wasn’t long ago that Joe Cole said the Argentine was a “future Ballon d’Or winner”. That was in an electric 2024/25 season for the 26-year-old who scored 29 times and assisted seven.
That was Alvarez’s first year in Madrid after leaving Manchester City. At the Etihad he played second fiddle to Erling Haaland but also found the net 19 times, assisting 13 in his campaign leading up to the semi-finals.
This is a special talent, someone like Kroupi who can play as a striker or just behind the main number 9. Well, Alvarez has been doing it for years now.
In the future, the French star from Bournemouth can be seen as a top talent, possibly the best in the game. However, for Atleti the star, they would be signing a finished product. There aren’t many better forwards in Europe right now.
Arsenal are always planning for the future but they actually feel like they are in winning mode now. Alvarez will certainly help continue that.
