Angel Martinez 2026 Fantasy Baseball Stolen Base Target

When I think of boring players in fantasy baseball, I only think of guys who are AL or NL qualifiers. Guys who get at bats, but very little in the stats department. Guys with a lot more value in real baseball than in fantasy. For me, when it comes to guys like that, in the past, Angel Martinez came quickly to mind.

He played in 139 games in 2025 and hit .224 in 484 plate appearances with eleven home runs and eight stolen bases. He scored 56 runs and drove in 45.

Pretty boring stuff. Is there a higher ceiling available than what has been shown so far in children? I’ll probably go with him, but he probably has some stolen base that hasn’t been used. His fastball average is 27.7 Ft/sec, and he is 15 of 18 in stolen bases in the majors. He has already swiped four bases in 2026 and is batting first or second on the Guardian’s list against left-handed pitchers and playing every day against righties.

Jumping for SAGNOF joy? Meh. That said, he’s only 24 years old and if I’m on the everyday team where I need an outfielder and want to find a guy who has the potential to steal some bases you could do a lot worse than Angel Martinez.

Here is this week’s Stealth Base Leaderboard

I found the top Speed Dial and SAGNOF targets here like Carson Benge, Luisangel Acuna, David Hamilton, and Jose Caballero. None of them, however, hit over the .200 mark.

Speed Dials

We had one live prediction last week as two of the picks were not on the roster, so we start the season 0 for 1.

Wednesday, April 15 – Marlins Vs Braves

Otto Lopez – Lopez is fast with a running speed of 28.5 Ft/Sec. He has stolen 37 bases over the last 2+ seasons and has been caught 11 times. He will face Bryce Elder on Wednesday, who has done well to keep runners out so far this season and is pitching to a 1.02 ERA. It’s a good thing too, as he’s allowing a .127 SB/IP and an 86.7% success rate. Drake Baldwin and Jonah Heim rank 51st and 52nd out of 64 in slugging, so they won’t help Elder keep Lopez and the rest of the Marlins close.

Thursday, April 16 – Mariners vs Padres

Cole Young – I don’t quite understand how an arm injury makes you stop stealing bases, but apparently that’s what happened to Young, a 22-year-old former first-round pick. He stole 22 bases in Low and High-A ball in 2023 and 23 bases in AA in 2024. Since injuring his arm in early 2025, he has stolen just 5 bases. Sprint speed isn’t great at 27.7 Ft/Sec, but it’s not bad either. At some point, he will start running again, and maybe that will be Thursday against Walker Buehler. The former Dodger turned Padre is allowing a .154 SB/IP and 88.6% strikeout rate. I’m not sure who will catch Buehler, but if it’s Luis Campusano, like his last two starts, he was the worst five catchers in the league for throwing out runners in his last extended at-bat in 2024.

Only two days deep this week. There’s a bunch of TBD in the starting lineup for Friday and Saturday, and nothing that’s confirmed really jumps out at me. I’ll be away next week, so check back in two weeks, and we should have some solid monthly data to move things forward with SAGNOF.

As always, if you want more next week, when we don’t have direct contests, hit me up here or on Twitter @TheGreatKnoche
