Rangers open talks to sign their biggest talent since Igamane for £500k

Glasgow Rangers will be preparing for another seismic summer at Ibrox, with some potential club changes on the cards, both in terms of outgoing and incoming.
Finally, the marquee of Hamza Igamane, a young Moroccan who went to Lille in a £10.4m deal, came a year after arriving for half the price from AS FAR Rabat.
His stay could have been short and sweet, but that kind of deal is one the Gers will want to look at going forward, with £35m-rated defender Emmanuel Fernandez keen on after his promising first season at Ibrox.
Making a profit before making a big profit, as in the case of Igamane and perhaps now with Fernandez, seems to be a trend Rangers are willing to follow, as recent transfer reports may suggest.
Rangers are among a raft of clubs to register interest in a £500k fee
The season is not over yet, although the Rangers hope that the title is here, attention is now turning to the reinforcements that can be added to Danny Rohl next season.

Rangers’ most expensive auction of all time
Who left Ibrox with the most money?
After prying Fernandez out of England’s EFL last summer, the Glasgow club could do the same again, with speculation surrounding their interest in Plymouth Argyle striker Lorent Tolaj.
The 24-year-old has been among the most exciting stars in League One this season, as has Huddersfield Town sensation Cameron Ashia, a walk-on winger who is now on Rangers’ radar.
According to the Daily Mail, Ibrox officials appear to have already opened talks over a summer move for the 21-year-old, having already made ‘initial enquiries’.
The report reveals that a number of clubs across Britain are showing interest, as is Bundesliga pairing Stuttgart and Hoffenheim.
In terms of price, even if Huddersfield extend Ashia’s contract for another year, it is felt that he could be had for as little as £500k.
Why Ashia could be Rangers’ biggest talent since Igamane
Igamane may have enjoyed a fleeting relationship with Rangers, but at his best, the striker was outstanding last season, scoring 16 times in all competitions, including four in just 10 Europa League games.
He soon seemed destined for big things, although he endured a bitter exit, as he saw his shoes filled in some ways by PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year, Mike Moore.
The Old Firm’s top scorer on Sunday, Moore is sadly only on loan at Ibrox, with an immediate return to Tottenham Hotspur appearing on the cards for next season.

As for finding a permanent successor to Igamane’s name as the next Rangers star, Ashia might fit the bill, as he is already earning rave reviews south of the border.
The exciting youngster, a former Derby County youngster, enjoyed real success with the Terriers, scoring six goals and registering three assists in his first 31 appearances at the top level.
That includes a return of six goals and an assist in his 21 League One appearances, despite starting just four games, proving a handful in his preferred position on the left wing.
From that point of view, the in-demand winger has the ability to curl home from range, as he did in a disastrous performance against Leicester City in August.
That quality, along with his ability to play fearlessly, has drawn comparisons with Manchester City paceman Jeremy Doku, highlighting the potential diamond in Rangers’ potential this summer.
Doku, signed by Pep Guardiola in a £55.4m deal until 2023, has enjoyed a fine season against the Etihad, scoring three goals in his last two Premier League games, both of which have been from the left flank.
The Belgian at his best has become almost unplayable for any defender, hopefully Ashia can grow into an equally feared prospect as his promising career continues.
Still only 21, this would be something of a gamble for Rangers, although their £1.7m investment in Igamane paid off, even after he made just 59 senior appearances back in Morocco.
For a similarly small fee of just £500k, the Glasgow giants can secure their next star of the future.
