Mohamed Salah calls Liverpool’s most underrated players behind Klopp’s success

Mohamed Salah has named Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, and Jordan Henderson as three players who don’t get the credit they deserve for their key roles in Liverpool’s trophy-laden success over the years.
While the “Egyptian king” has been stealing away Liverpool over the years, Salah was quick to point out that the foundation of the club’s Premier League and Champions League triumphs was built behind these locker room operators.

Reflecting on his time under Jürgen Klopp, the outgoing Salah insisted that individual awards often overlooked the discipline and leadership provided by the three veterans.
Mohamed Salah names the trio as Liverpool’s unsung heroes
In a recent interview with Steven Gerrard on TNT Sport, Salah named Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner as three teammates who deserve more recognition for their role in Liverpool’s success.
Salah said: “I think people don’t know how good Alexander-Arnold is, but I think he gets a lot of credit.
“But I would say Gini Wijnaldum and Millie [Milner] and Hendo [Henderson]. Just these guys, without them, we wouldn’t have won anything.”
Wijnaldum’s role in Liverpool’s success
Gini Wijnaldum was an integral part of Klopp’s midfield, known for his ability to keep the ball under pressure and his tactical flexibility.
His incredible contribution, two goals in a historic 4-0 comeback against Barcelona, is one of the best nights in Europe at Anfield.
Jordan Henderson’s role in Liverpool’s success
As the captain who has lifted all the major trophies, Jordan Henderson’s leadership is the strength of the team.
He captained Liverpool during their most successful season in recent history. Salah has even asked the fans to give him the punishment he deserves but he won’t get it because of his sudden exit last summer.
In that interview he said:
“I think the last game of the season against Brentford, the people of the city know what it meant to Hendo and, to be the captain of the team, to be here for 12 years – more than me, more than Virg, more than Robbo, more than anyone.
“He didn’t get the send off he deserved because he left suddenly and I don’t know how the team will handle it.
“I have no plans, and I don’t know how the fans will handle it, but I wish they would do something special for him, because he has been one of the best players in this club.”
James Milner’s role in Liverpool’s success
James Milner, often referred to as a great technician, was the glue that held the dressing room together.
He was one of Klopp’s favorite players, in fact, he is every manager’s dream player.
Whether filling in at left or right back or holding a central position, Milner provided a level of experience and fitness that was essential.
These three players represent the spirit of self-sacrifice that defined Liverpool’s return to the top of world football.
