Included tee times for round 2
Before the first round of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Brooks Koepka told reporters at his press conference that he felt like he was “in complete control” of his game. His results on Thursday support that.
The five-time major champion came out firing in Round 1, making two birdies and an eagle over nine at TPC Craig Ranch to quickly reach four under for the tournament. The impressive performance put Koepka near the top of the leaderboard early. He then birdied three early in his second to get to 7 under and tie for the lead.
But this week’s betting favourite, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, also entered the red numbers early in the 1st round.
The two stars played on the same team as Si Woo Kim, and will meet again in Friday’s second round.
Koepka, Scheffler and Kim will go to the second round on Friday at 1:43 pm ET.
