Reporter: “What’s the most important thing when it comes to expanding the roster, Kevin? Because you know, a lot of your guys and your top guys had the best years they’ve ever had.”

Cheveldayoff: “Yeah, so, you know, and, I think there’s probably, you know, a lot of different priorities. And staying here right now, the priority is, you know, doing the process of getting out of here. I’m not ready to just, you know, say, ‘Okay, we’re ready to turn the page here.’ We don’t turn the page slowly, you know.

The Predators Are Waiting To Talk To Other Prospects, And Braden Schneider Knows He Can Be Traded

So we’re going to spend a lot of time, you know, talking, you know, about that. You know, 16 teams are out, eight more will be out. And, you know, 10, 12, days, you know, there are talks with other teams and things like that won’t really start, you know, for a while yet. Like everybody’s going to have to go through, you know, their processes. They will have, you know, their levels of disappointment.

But, you know, obviously you know, the (Manitoba) Moose are playing, so you’re going to keep, you know, keep watching, you know, watching them again, keep, you know, checking the inside players. Some of them obviously ran well here to get a chance to play. See if those are the places that will close your pores.

And again, nothing important is sitting here at this time, and it actually takes a thorough assessment of the organization. “

Reporter: “Have you seen enough of Scott Arniel in the last four years to know that he will be back next year?”

Cheveldayoff: “You know, obviously, you know, and, part of the audition process here is that we go through, like, you know, going out. You know, you deal with that with the players. It gives them a chance to, you know, say their thing.

For us, we’re going to do that with the coaches and, and again, give them, you know, a chance. I know the whole coaching staff, they work very hard. They are extremely prepared. You know, they do those things to make sure they’re trying to give the players the best possible chance.

NHL Rumors: Detroit Red Wings, and Winnipeg Jets

So, you know, again, I’m not going to sit here and make any bold announcements, because, again, this, this vetting process, you know, I owe it to you. I owe it to the organization. I owe it to myself. I owe it to the fans. I owe it to the players. And, you know, like I said, we’re not ready to turn the page on anything yet, and we’re just going to, we’re going to continue to explore.”
