British wild card Arthur Fery, who grew up in Wimbledon, continued his dream run at his home Grand Slam on Wednesday, upsetting No. 9 Flavio Cobolli from Italy 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-0 on Center Court to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal.
I 23-age, ranked No. 114 on earth, two more hours were needed 14 minutes to eliminate Cobolli and become the second wildcard to reach the men’s Wimbledon semifinals in the Open Era, joining Goran Ivanisevic 2001.
The Fery struck 27 winners, dished out eight aces and committed one double fault. He won 78 percentage of his first points as well 65 percentage of his points worked for the second time while maintaining constant pressure on Cobolli’s serve.
Fery took the opening set with a late break before surviving a second set refrigerator. From there, he dominated the final set, running through it without dropping a match.

“I have always believed in myself and I believe that I can, yes, be the best player in the world. Well, obviously a Wimbledon semifinalist is something else. “
Fery said he tried to approach the competition one game at a time.
“I took it by analogy. I didn’t look forward. I just played all the games as is. Yes, I am.”
Although he was playing in his first Grand Slam quarterfinal on Center Court, Fery said he gradually settled into the event.
“I felt, as I said on the court, uncomfortable but more confident playing someone I’ve played on the big stage.
“Yes, even with the whole game I felt like it was very close. Sometimes he served very well. But I felt like I was always a little, not relaxed, but a little on edge. Yes, I was able to pass the second one, which was big, and then the third one.”
This event was even more memorable before the game when Queen Camilla greeted both players.

Cobolli admitted that he never found his rhythm against an opponent whose quality surprised him.

Asked if Fery has improved since beating him at the Australian Open earlier this year, Cobolli said he has.
“I mean, even in Australia I felt that his quality does not come from the guy outside at the top 100. Now I think it’s close, I don’t know, 50.
“Indeed, today was not my day. Maybe you play better than other games. I don’t know. I didn’t see anyone else. But I felt that his level was really high today.”
Fery will face No. 2 Alexander Zverev booked a place in the Wimbledon final on Sunday.
