Tottenham have held talks to sign the record-breaker with Liverpool’s official offer made

Tottenham have held talks to sign the young star who broke Liverpool’s record official bid, according to reports.
However, Spurs’ 2025/26 campaign has been a disaster, and the following summer could be the most important in the club’s modern history.
Roberto De Zerbi has kept Spurs up – just – but the scale of the rebuilding task ahead of him is huge.
Marcos Senesi’s free transfer from Bournemouth has been agreed in principle but is yet to be signed, while Spurs face a reported threat from Juventus in the race to sign Andy Robertson despite a deal expected to be completed this week.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are both attracting strong interest from abroad, while Luka Vuskovic’s future remains unclear, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and a string of top-flight clubs circling the centre-back.
Tottenham plan to move £25m star who is “the best player” in the Championship.
Spurs are looking for new additions, after securing their Premier League status.
De Zerbi needs bodies, he needs leaders, and he needs them fast.
But rapid fire fighters aside, the Spurs are also looking ahead, and one word on their radar represents betting on the future rather than fixing the present.
Tottenham have held talks to sign Hertha Berlin winger Kenneth Eichhorn
According to Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk, Tottenham have held recent talks over a potential move for Hertha Berlin sensation Kenneth Eichhorn.
The 16-year-old German midfielder has emerged as one of the most sought-after young talents in European football this season after a record-breaking Bundesliga 2 campaign and attracted rapt attention across the continent.
Eichhorn became the youngest player in Bundesliga 2 history when he made his debut against Karlsruhe on the opening weekend of the season, aged just 16 years and 14 days.
He then became the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history at the age of 16 years and 287 days, breaking the record that had stood since 1985.
The goal culminated a season in which Eichhorn left school hoping to make the regular team under head coach Stefan Leitl, who spoke highly of the youngster’s composure, tactical intelligence and ability to dictate play in a midfield role.
He has been with Hertha since the Under 9s and is now the captain of Germany’s Under 17 team, with four appearances and two goals.
Spurs are far from the only club surrounding Eichhorn, however.
Liverpool have submitted an official bid for Eichhorn, while Man City have already put themselves at the forefront of the process with a detailed development plan that would see him spend time on loan in Germany before joining the Etihad.
Any way to England will be a big problem.
FIFA rules prohibit international transfers of players under the age of 18, meaning Eichhorn could not officially join a Premier League club until July 2027 at the earliest.
That fact has made loan deals a sticking point in negotiations, with Liverpool and City giving the youngster influence in choosing the right German club to continue his development.
Hertha’s value sits at around €20 million according to Transfermarkt, and a bidding war between Europe’s heavyweights could push that figure up.
At Spurs, acquiring a talent of this caliber – even at a late stage – would represent the kind of forward-thinking recruitment De Zerbi needs and quick fixes.
