Tottenham are entering the race to sign Manchester United for just £10m
Tottenham Hotspur are now planning a raid on the rival London club, with an “unbelievable” player available for a fee.
Lewis family pledges De Zerbi summer ‘rebuilding’ funds
It is clear that there are deep problems at Tottenham, who have finished 17th in the Premier League for the second year in a row, avoiding relegation with a 1-0 home win against Everton on Sunday.
In a recent statement, the Lewis family has taken responsibility, and promised to provide Roberto De Zerbi with an investment before the summer transfer window.
“Finishing in 17th place this season and last season does not show the quality or strength of this football team,” they said. “We are very disappointed and share your frustration.” You, and we, expect more than this. We know that this must not happen again.
“We also have the responsibility to rebuild Spurs. Our desire is to bring back the spirit of the club and bring back the excitement, fearlessness and bold football that we always hear it defines.
“That means football comes first. The board and the management team have set their plans to meet this ambition. This will require investment – in our teams, in our school, in our classroom activities and so on – and we are fully committed to this.”
Major changes may be needed, as Spurs have not been doing very well for a long time, indicating that a serious cash injection may be required.
However, saving money where possible is always beneficial, and potentially low-cost additions to the team have also been identified.
Tottenham plan to raid West Ham for an “unbelievable” player.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have jumped into the race to sign West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is now available for just £10m, following his club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The Hammers will have to rebuild this summer, having thrown in the towel in the Championship, despite a 3-0 win against Leeds United on the last day, and the former Crystal Palace and Manchester United player could be one of the first players to leave, although Spurs are also keen to sign Jarrod Bowen.
A number of Premier League clubs are targeting the DR Congo international, who struggled at United but returned to West Ham, with the north Londoners saying they admire his ‘defensiveness and versatility’.
The 28-year-old has made 233 top-flight appearances to his name, during which he has scored four goals and provided 21 assists, and journalist Liam Canning has praised the defender as “unbelievable” for his attacking and one-to-one defensive skills.
Of course, De Zerbi already has Pedro Porro and Djed Spence to choose from at right-back, with the latter player free to play on either side, so signing Wan-Bissaka may not be entirely necessary, but it is clear to see why his availability at a bargain price is attractive.
