The highly-rated player is set to join Leeds once they secure Premier League survival

Leeds United have been handed a huge transfer boost in the summer, but it’s up to them to secure Premier League survival before it happens.
The relegation battle is entering its final stages, and for Leeds the picture is much clearer than it was a few weeks ago.
After spending a lot of time looking over their shoulder, Leeds gave themselves some breathing room at the right time.
Going into the last few games of the Premier League, they stay well outside the bottom three and, more importantly, have opened up a gap that puts survival within touching distance.
By early spring, they were hovering around trouble, sitting in 15th place with only a small cushion between them and the fall.
Now, with a six-point advantage and only a few games remaining, another good result could well seal their Premier League status.
Farke learns a clear need on the Leeds and Aston Villa board in the star position
The German is about to make his feelings clear.
That change of position eased the tension at Elland Road.
The results have not always been good, but they have been good enough to keep Leeds in control of their future, with Daniel Farke’s side unbeaten in their last five top-flight games.
At the same time, planning for the upcoming season is already underway, and one name continues to emerge.
Hidemasa Morita is ready to join Leeds if survival is guaranteed
Hidemasa Morita is once again on Leeds’ radar, following a well-documented attempt to sign the Japan international last summer.
According to Simon Jones of The Mail, Morita is now ready to commit to Leeds if survival is statistically guaranteed.
The midfielder was interested in the club last year but chose to stay.
This time around, the situation has changed as his contract expires at the end of 2025/2026, and a summer move is looking increasingly real, with some reports claiming that Leeds are in serious trouble for Morita.
Morita, now 30, has been a consistent player for Sporting CP this season.
Operating primarily as a defensive midfielder, he featured regularly in all competitions, making 46 appearances while scoring one goal and providing five assists.
Those numbers only tell part of the story. His real value lies in his control of tempo, positioning, and ability to finish off opposing play.
Throughout his career, Morita has built a reputation as a reliable and disciplined midfielder.
Before moving to Portugal, he impressed in Japan with Kawasaki Frontale, where he won many local medals.
Since joining Sporting, he has added further success, including two Primeira Liga titles – taking his total to eight major trophies in Japan and Europe.
That winning background is a big part of his appeal.
Leeds are not only looking for talent, but for players who understand how to compete and handle pressure situations. Morita fits that profile.
He played in teams that won the title, had experience in European football, and represented his country 40 times in international matches.
Tactically, he could provide something that Leeds have lacked at times this season, and provide Farke with a strong alternative to captain Ethan Ampadu.
With his contract expiring, Morita will be available on a free transfer, making him a low-risk option with proven quality. In a market where currencies keep rising, that kind of opportunity is hard to ignore.
For Leeds, however, everything still depends on ensuring survival.
Fortunately for Farke, that seems likely.
