Any Manchester United fans watching Amad Diallo’s performance in the World Cup against Norway should have been left proud of his efforts.

The left-footed striker scored a fine goal for his country, keeping his balance in the box to score under pressure, before Erling Haaland went on to score the winner.

Although Ivory Coast exited the competition at the last 32 stage, Amad can be proud of the fact that he has scored two goals in four games for his country in the past few weeks.

His impressive form for his country came after he scored just two goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils in the 2025/26 campaign, a disappointing performance for the forward.

The 23-year-old has managed just two goals and three assists in 32 Premier League games for United, and is hoping to add more consistency to his game next term.

According to a report by The Touchline on X, Crysencio Summerville, who is wanted by Manchester United, has made it clear that he wants to sign for the club in the summer transfer window.

The report says that the Dutch player has told his representatives that he wants to go to Old Trafford after West Ham United were relegated from the Premier League.

It adds that the winger is watching Old Trafford as a ‘last resort’ because he believes he can compete to win the Premier League and Champions League trophies with the club. Previous reports claim that the Red Devils have already opened talks with the Hammers to explore a deal for the defender, who could cost around £50m this summer.

United already have one diminutive and explosive winger on the right in Amad, who needs to add consistency to their game, and could bring in the same player on the other side.

The player from the Netherlands showed his quality on the left during the World Cup before the Netherlands were knocked out by Morocco at the end of last month.

He even beat Amad in this competition because he added two assists to go along with his two goals in four games, which is estimated to score one goal in each game of his country.

His performance at the World Cup should give United faith that he can add more impact to his game after stepping up to Old Trafford, after scoring just five goals and providing two assists in the Premier League against West Ham.

Summerville was unable to score regularly for the relegation side, but he scored 20 goals in 46 appearances for Leeds United in the 2023/24 campaign for the Championship side.

The 24-year-old’s form in the Netherlands and Leeds in the past shows that he thrives in competitive teams and plays attacking football with quality players around him, not in a struggling Hammers side.

This is why he may be the best player to sign for United because they have just entered the Champions League under Carrick and should be expected to be one of the strikers at the top of the Premier League next season.

In Amad and Summerville, Carrick could have two flankers who look set to have successful seasons next year if they can add consistency to their play in the final third, which is an exciting prospect for the Red Devils.
