Andreas Schjelderup continued his prolific form by putting Norway ahead against England with a 36th-minute cross-shot in the 2026 World Cup quarter-final in Miami on Saturday – but Jude Bellingham scored his fifth goal of the final to equalize in first-half extra time.

Newcomer Benfica midfielder Schjelderup set up both of Erling Haaland’s goals in Norway’s 2-1 win over Brazil and held the line in defense as Stale Solbakken’s men set themselves up to meet Argentina or Switzerland in the final four.

“It looks like England are asleep,” former Three Lions defender Lee Dixon told ITV. “There’s no way he’s aiming for the top barrels there.

“Look at the shape of his body. What is he trying to do, wrap his foot? If he goes up to the top corner there, he’s the best player in the world.”

Bellingham collected Anthony Gordon’s incisive pass and found the far corner of the net from a tight angle inside the box before Harry Kane, who came on to complain about a foul in the build-up to Norway’s goal, was ruled offside.

That ensures that the scores are level at halftime between the teams that will go into extra time in the tournament.

“They lost momentum and now they’ve won it,” former Ireland captain Roy Keane said of England. “Now they have to finish the job.”

Norway knocked out record five-time champions Selecao last Sunday, hours before England knocked out Mexico.

John Stones came into center back for England, while Ezri Konsa came from the right in place of Jarell Quansah, who had been banned for two games.
