Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, Vinicius Jr react to their 2026 ad – and why CR7 ‘really loved’ Siuuu before filming the ad

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has described himself as “incredibly honoured” to join Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior at the LEGO advertising table – and the company’s designer has revealed that the singer’s team “really love” the work that features his Siuuu celebration.
The venerable quartet, immortalized in LEGO bricks as part of a series of special sets created for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, are shown building a replica of the tournament trophy and taunting each other in the commercial, titled “everyone wants a piece”.
Ronaldo, who has long been regarded as Messi’s main rival in the conference of which of the leading players is the greatest player of all time, has also been called by Argentina captain, France captain Mbappe and Brazil star Vinicius Jr “amazing”.
How LEGO created sets for Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, Vinicius Jr
Designed for players at least 10 years old, Soccer Highlights sets feature a “cinematic portrait” of each player built on bullet-shaped bases and in the colors of their national jerseys alongside a collectible plaque and minifigure.
Ronaldo and Mbappe’s match consists of 490 pieces, while 2022 World Cup winner Messi made 500 and Vinicius Junior 510.
“We had to figure out which hair clip to use and how to fix the face,” said LEGO’s Sanne van Kesteren, speaking to AS.
“We wanted to show any other details they had, like pictures of Messi. We collected a lot of options for wigs and facial expressions and we kept going back and forth with the teams, showing what we were doing and testing.
“Especially in the words: ‘Should we have a more smiling face, a more determined face?’ We decided to have two faces of Ronaldo.
“We were a little nervous when we showed Siuuu’s face, it’s the one we believed in the most, because it’s a wonderful image and children will love it.
“Yes, when we showed it, we were tense – but the team loved it. They were actually talking about it all the time, saying ‘I love this face’. It’s the one on the packaging.”
Why Lionel Messi got a ‘surreal’ LEGO set
Messi and Ronaldo have more Football Legends sets. Designers can recreate that Siuuu or bicycle kick with a model with 854 pieces, while Messi’s design is flexible to show the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner celebrating or playing with the help of 958 pieces.
“The highlight for me was being able to meet Lionel Messi and show him the set I had been working on for months,” designer Freddy Charters told the media.
“I’m a big football fan… if you’re a football fan, you should be a Messi fan. He’s a brilliant player and I’ve followed his life and career since I was very young.
“He revealed that his family was totally into LEGO building. He said it was surreal for him to now see himself in LEGO form and that his family is going to build a set based on him, which is amazing.”
The 1,427-item set featuring Messi is for fans aged 14 and over, designed as a “stunning piece of 3D wall art” filled with “easter eggs that nod to his life and career”.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo: How much are LEGO sets?
The Messi and Ronaldo Soccer Legends pieces cost $79.99, with the celebratory Messi design priced at $199.99.
“Like football, playing LEGO is about building and rebuilding, trying new things, learning from mistakes and celebrating success,” Messi suggested, adding that he was “very excited” for fans to try out the sets.
“I love how these LEGO sets bring my playtimes to life in a fun and imaginative way.”
Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr LEGO set: ‘Power and creativity’
The designs featuring 2018 champion Mbappe and Vinicius Junior are part of the Soccer Highlights series, priced at $29.99 each.
“This LEGO set tells part of my story, but above all it captures the energy and creativity that makes this game so important,” Mbappe said, sounding an optimistic note.
“It’s a fun way to share my journey and passion. If it can inspire young people to believe in their dreams, forge their own path and enjoy creating along the way, that’s a real win.”
Vinicius Junior called the sets “really fun”. “Just like on the pitch, these sets allow fans to test new moves and celebrate the power of the game,” Real Madrid livewire said.

The football sets are available on the LEGO site, with some being pre-ordered when the sale goes live on April 2.

A set of FIFA World Cup trophy and US national team jersey is available for $24.99 each.
