Rangers are now ready to let the £8m star leave this summer after Rohl’s latest rejection

Rangers are now ready to let Andreas Skov Olsen leave Ibrox this summer, rather than trigger the £8m buyout option included in his loan deal.

The Rangers are ready to let Skov Olsen go

It’s been a tough few weeks for Rangers. They lost to both their rivals in the last two games and saw their title hopes disappear.

Big Rohl development: Ibrox chiefs now want Rangers to hire 4-3-3 manager

Rangers could hire Danny Rohl to replace the German after their 3-1 loss to Celtic.

It brought general questions about the future and sparked outrage about the future of some stars, including Skov Olsen. The midfielder signed a statement when he arrived on loan from Wolfsburg in January, but has since failed to find the same place in Danny Rohl’s team, starting seven of the 13 Scottish Premiership games.

Now, according to Football Insider, Rangers are ready to let Skov Olsen leave this summer, opting out of triggering his £8m buyout option, which would be one of the most expensive deals in the club’s history.

The Wolfsburg loanee hasn’t done enough to justify that fee since his arrival. It speaks volumes where he stands with Rohl that he was forced to sit on the bench even when Rangers lost to Celtic last weekend.

After playing 11 games for the Gers, Skov Olsen has scored just one goal and Rohl’s latest snub looks set to spell the end of his time in Scotland.

What that does for the 49ers is free up some much-needed budget to invest elsewhere on a team in dire need of an upgrade this summer.

Rohl wants Rangers to develop “toughness”

It could be a defining fortnight for all the right reasons for Rangers. Instead, it will be remembered when their title hopes were completely dashed. As for Rohl, however, this should be the beginning of his management and he decided to call for a quick “strengthening” after the Old Firm.

“We have to improve our resilience from time to time. In important decision-making areas, if you make mistakes at this level, it is really difficult to take the right results. I will take all the disappointment and anger from the fans in the right way. I am in front of my team, so I will take my responsibility.”

The Rangers boss has a lot of work to do this summer if he is to turn the Gers into winners ahead of his first full season in charge. However, for now he has no choice but to watch the rival team snatch the silver.
