Promotion Twins Kendry Rojas, Connor Prielipp Added To Taxi Squad

The Twins will promote the left fielder Kendry Rojas from Triple-A to the active roster ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Mets, according to SKOR North’s Declan Goff and Darren Wolfson. Rojas had already been added to the 40-man roster last November ahead of the Rule 5 Draft, and Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star Tribune writes that the corresponding move for the 26-man is. Kody Funderburkplacement ‘s in the list of fathers.

Moreover, on the left Connor Prielipp will rejoin the Twins at the start of their series against the Mets, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. It has not yet been officially named, as Prielipp is part of the taxi team. Prielipp joined Rojas as two of six additions to the 40-man roster Minnesota made in November, so the Twins will have to make another 26-man roster if Prielipp is officially promoted.

Both Rojas and Prielipp will be making their Major League debuts whenever they appear in a game. In Rojas’ case, this could be a cup of coffee while Funderburk is out, though the Twins’ relief team has struggled enough that adding a young, raw but talented arm could help spark the bullpen. Funderburk, Taylor Rogersagain Anthony Banda they’re the current bullpen group for lefties, and Banda in particular is off to a rough start in 2026.

Tuesday’s game in New York starts a 13-game hitting streak for the Twins, so it’s possible that Rojas or Prielipp could get a start to help preserve the rotation. The club could look to use the southpaw as a traditional starter or long reliever, or perhaps Minnesota could send a piggyback with Rojas and Prielipp paired with another starter.

Rojas has missed time with a hamstring injury this year and has pitched just 7 1/3 innings, though the 23-year-old has yet to allow a run in that small sample size. (Six innings were with Triple-A St. Paul, and 1 1/3 IP was with A-ball Fort Myers on rehab assignment.) In those 7 1/3 frames, Rojas posted seven strikeouts, but also four walks. Over 38 1/3 innings of work at the Triple-A level, Rojas has a 14.06% walk rate, a 20.31% strikeout rate and a 6.10 ERA.

How well Rojas can use his control appears to be the main question facing the lefty’s future as a major league arm. Baseball America ranks Rojas as the eighth-best prospect in the Twins’ farm system and MLB Pipeline has him ranked 10th, with both outlets noting that he has a role in the back-to-back rotation if he remains a first baseman. According to BA, Rojas has a “balanced arsenal with all of his pitches appearing at least average,” though he lacks a true plus pitch. His fastball may be his top offering, as the pitch often sits around 95mph and Nightengale notes that Rojas hit the 99mph threshold during his time in St. Louis.

The Blue Jays landed Rojas as an international signing in 2020, and his time in Toronto’s farm system was hampered by chest, shoulder and abdominal injuries. Before last summer’s trade deadline, the Jays sent Rojas and an outfielder Alan Roden to the Twins in perhaps the most surprising move of Minnesota’s deadline fire sale, as a manageable trade. Louis Varland again France he went another way. Varland quickly became a key piece of Toronto’s bullpen, but Rojas and Roden fit the Twins’ trade model of acquiring players who are ready or close to big league-ready.

Prielipp is a homegrown product, selected by the Twins in the second round of the 2022 draft. BA ranked him the 96th best prospect in baseball before the 2026 season and placed him fourth on their list of Twins prospects, while Pipeline ranked Prielipp fifth. Both outlets offer 60 marks on the southpaw’s changeup and swing, and Prielipp produces a ton of spin on the final pitch. Prielipp also has a mid-90s fastball that can hit 98mph.

After reaching Triple-A ball for the first time last season, Prielipp struggled but now looked sharp over 15 2/3 innings for the St. Louis Cardinals. Paul in 2026. Over 36 2/3 innings of Triple-A ball, Prielipp has a 3.93 ERA, 30.13% strikeout rate and 13, so 6 in control of his walk rate. Staying healthy has been Prielipp’s biggest concern, as he underwent Tommy John surgery in college at Alabama and then internal brace surgery that sidelined him for much of the 2023-24 season. Prielipp has thrown just 128 1/3 innings of minor league ball.
