There has been a lot of Arsenal transfer news causing a stir in the past few days, with Piers Morgan already talking about a swap deal for Julian Alvarez and Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners only signed Gyokeres last summer, but many fans will feel that a true striker like Alvarez would be a significant upgrade.
Posting on X, famous Arsenal fan Morgan admits he thinks the club should try to sign Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, but not while losing Gyokeres.

What should Arsenal’s attack look like next season?
It would be a huge ambition for Arsenal to sign a player of Alvarez’s caliber, the Argentine has scored 49 goals in 106 games for his current club.
The 26-year-old has also gained Premier League experience, despite being a club player during his time at Manchester City.

Alvarez is a different style of striker to Gyokeres, so maybe they can play together, but AFC may also need to try a trade deal to lower his price.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have also been linked with Vinicius Junior by Athletic, but can they afford him and Alvarez?
AFC probably needs some changes in attack, as they often struggled to break teams down last season, despite winning the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final.
A more attacking quality would have helped them beat PSG in the final, as they were only beaten on penalties after a 1-1 draw, with their defensive structure working well, but for the lack of exits that hurt them when they got on the ball.
Vinicius and Alvarez are likely to help with that, so it may be a matter of evaluating both players as options before deciding which one is affordable, realistic, and desirable to join.
Does Viktor Gyokeres deserve more time at Arsenal?
Gyokeres, on the other hand, beat Alvarez last season, although many fans and pundits will feel that he was underwhelmed in his first season at the Emirates Stadium.
The former Sporting Lisbon man boasted insane goalscoring figures during his time in Portugal, scoring 97 goals in 102 games in total.
In his first season at Arsenal, Gyokeres finished with 21 goals in 55 games, with the Premier League clearly proving to be a good fit for him.
Perhaps after a year to settle and adjust he could do better in 2026/27, but it’s easy to see why Arsenal might also be tempted to use him to increase their chances of getting Alvarez, even if the move might not be to everyone’s liking.
