Nottingham Forest have launched a bid to sign the £22m defender, and they have had a response

Nottingham Forest are already preparing to splash the cash ahead of the summer transfer window, launching a bid to sign the Serie A star.

Nottingham Forest are holding talks to sign the defender

Tricky Trees are not always quiet in the transfer market and that is unlikely to change after flirting with relegation this season and going through as many as three managers. Eventually, Evangelos Marinakis landed Vitor Pereira and the Portuguese coach is now the man he is looking to bring back this summer.

Just who comes is the big question. The Midlands have already been linked with the likes of Jonathan David which would be a fantastic prospect.

Nottingham Forest are planning a ‘desperate’ move for the Leeds star who is in talks to sign him in 2024.

His club is determined to keep him.

The Juventus striker may have struggled since his arrival in Turin, but one only needs to look back at his time with LOSC Lille to see the player Forest could welcome.

Serie A seems to be right up there with the Tricksters, too. According to Sports Boom, Nottingham Forest have made an offer to sign Jan Ziolkowski from AS Roma worth around €15m (£13m), but have had it rejected by the Italians.

Negotiations are ongoing and Roma have set their asking price at €25m (£22m). That means Forest are still £9m short of matching that valuation, giving them plenty of work to do.

At just 20 years old, Ziolkowski is yet to reach the peak of his powers and that £22m fee could be worth every penny if he reaches his potential in the coming years. Whether Forest is ready to reach that price as soon as this summer remains to be seen, however.

The forest should spread to Ziolkowski

Despite interest from Brighton and Bournemouth, it is Nottingham Forest who are leading the race to sign Ziolkowski. They are the ones pushing for a deal and are the only club to have made an offer at this stage.

There is still a long way to go to find a central place for Roma, too. It is clear that the City Ground have quickly progressed the negotiations and he is a person who is his biggest fan.

The numbers, although only a small measure, certainly make for good reading compared to an impressive figure like Murillo. They suggest that Ziolkowski is the best defender.

All signs point to the City Ground for the 6’4 defender, but Forest must first raise their bid to meet Roma’s high rate at the second time of asking.
