Nicolo Savona agrees to move with Anderson as Man City continue negotiations

Nottingham Forest continue to be at the center of one of the biggest transfer issues of the summer amid ongoing talks with Man City over Elliot Anderson.
The midfielder has emerged as a top scorer for the Sky Blues after an impressive campaign at the City Ground.
Man City’s interest has grown over the past few weeks.
Reports throughout the summer have suggested that Premier League-bound Anderson is one of the best midfielders playing in England, but Forest have so far rejected attempts to prize the player.

The party has maintained a strong negotiating stance during the negotiations.
Anderson values the forest as one of their most valuable assets, and that status helped drive up the price as negotiations progressed.

He was in a special situation.
City are understood to have already seen a number of bids rejected, with Evangelos Marinakis recently having an offer of £106 million plus £15 million in add-ons rejected.
Forest officials have consistently indicated that any deal would require a huge transfer fee, and that is believed to be north of £120m as a guaranteed fee.
Recent updates from Germany have suggested that talks between the two clubs continue to progress.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany recently reported that negotiations are progressing, and the same report said that there is currently no rival proposal on the table that can match City’s efforts.
Man United were linked with Anderson at the start of the window, but there is apparently no similar offer from Old Trafford this time around.
As a result, City remains firmly in a satisfactory position once the deal is completed.
The potential sale would represent the biggest transfer outbound in Forest’s history, and would provide significant rental income.
Forest have already been linked with a number of potential replacements last week, with David Frattesi among the midfielders reportedly being considered.
Against this backdrop, however, it appears that another player will soon be walking out the door with Anderson.
Nicolo Savona agrees personal terms to leave Nottingham Forest
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Atalanta have made significant progress in their pursuit of Nicolo Savona.
His report states that the Serie A club have reached a full agreement with the player on personal terms, and negotiations on salary and contract terms are understood to have been successfully concluded.
That development means attention can now shift to negotiations between the two clubs.
Atalanta are expected to intensify negotiations with Forest as they try to secure a transfer deal.
The Italian club have been monitoring Savona’s condition for several weeks, after interest in the defender emerged earlier in the summer.
Since then, Atalanta have continued to work behind the scenes to push the deal forward.
However, Marinakis will not allow any departure without confirming the terms he considers satisfactory, as seen in the long saga of Anderson.
Savona only arrived at Forest last summer from Juventus and remains part of the squad planning for the upcoming campaign, so that means Atalanta will still need to convince Forest before any move is finalised.
The 23-year-old has made an excellent start to his career at Forest, playing almost every league game in early 2025/26, and he managed to score against Man United and Liverpool.
However, Savona’s season ended with a serious knee injury in the winter.
