The NHL: Sabers goaltender Alex Lyon felt fine yesterday and is expected to practice today. Forward Alex Tuch and goalkeeper Colton Ellis were given maintenance days yesterday.

Pat Steinberg: Calgary Flames goaltender Devin Cooley missed last night’s game due to illness.

Walt Ruff: Carolina Hurricanes forward Logan Stankoven did not practice yesterday due to illness.

Ben Pope: Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Artyom Levshunov has a hand injury, but it will only affect his offseason training for about two weeks.

Pitcher Rope Hintz is out for at least the first two games.

Pens Inside the Scoop: Pittsburgh Penguins forwards Blake Lizotte (upper body) and Connor Dewar (lower) both practiced in custom jerseys. Lizotte has missed 16 games, Dewar four.

Arun Srinivasan: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies said the severity of his knee injury is over, but he will focus on getting healthy.

Lance Hornby: Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz said he had hip problems that did not require surgery.
