Newcastle are leading the race to sign another £30m signing for Darwin Nunez

Eddie Howe looks set to remain in charge at St. James’ Park. The Newcastle United boss has been under pressure in recent months, with fans questioning his ability to lead the club forward.
And yet, this is Howe, the man who took a relegation-threatened outfit and turned them into regular Champions League contenders. Oh, and the Magpies lifted the Carabao Cup last season, beating Liverpool in the final.
If anyone can turn things around, it’s him, but there’s no doubt that Newcastle need to approach the summer transfer market with new ideas and an updated strategy.

There have been plenty of signings who have worked this season, with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa both proving to be tricky in the final third. Signing a forward is, again, a priority.
Newcastle are leading the race for promotion in the Premier League
Newcastle need to buy but also sell effectively this season, and although it seems that Anthony Gordon’s days at St.
The PIF is already ready to cut its losses on Wissa after his frustrating campaign, but Woltemade’s future looms large.
However, Newcastle need a striker. Darwin Nunez has been tipped this week, but according to Ben Jacobs of GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea’s Liam Delap has been identified as the man to take the job.
Interest in Delap is increasing after a disappointing year at Stamford Bridge, but he proved with Ipswich Town last year his ability as a top striker in the Premier League, and at Newcastle, he can flourish.
Why Liam Delap could be a Newcastle striker
Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich last summer for £30m, ending a fierce multi-club battle for his signature after the Tractor Boys were relegated.
Described as a “wrecking ball” by Lewis Jones of Sky Sports last season, Delap has the power and pace to provide a club like Newcastle, who need an attacking profile capable of finishing next season.
However, the 23-year-old goalscorer may have jumped the gun after scoring 12 goals last season. In the Premier League this season, he has scored just one goal, starting 11 times. Joining Chelsea was always going to be a risk, especially with Newcastle hoping to sign him and fill a prominent role at the front of their attacking line.
Neither Woltemade nor Wissa have scratched the surface of Alexander Isak’s quality up front in Howe’s Newcastle set-up, and instead, the Magpies are relying on Gordon, who has ebbed and flowed but knows how to be put on top.

Gordon has been the difference between disappointment and disaster at Newcastle this season; Woltemade has worked hard after his electrifying start to life in England, while Wissa is a pale shadow of the Brentford striker who moved to Tyneside for £55m.
All this being considered, it is important that someone like Delap is signed this summer. Woltemade is neat and tidy, but lacks the durability that Delap can provide. Wissa, on the other hand, failed to put it all together on Tyneside, going upstream.
In addition, Delap is very good when developing the ball. Despite struggling this year, he has completed 77% of runs in the Premier League.
If he can recapture his form for Ipswich in the top flight, Delap could be a jackpot signing for a Newcastle side in need of a focal frontman and one that could give him a platform to realize his potential in the Premier League.
