Liverpool want to sign Goncalo Inacio as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate

Liverpool are now keen to sign a “crazy” defender, who could replace Ibrahima Konate.

Iraola needs a new midfielder with Konate joining Real Madrid

After just five years, Konate’s time at Anfield will come to an end when his contract expires this summer, and the defender expressed his sadness at the way he left, saying: “I’m very sad that I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to you all in the last game. At the time, I didn’t know it would be my last time in front of you wearing this shirt.

“Anfield is a really special place, and playing in front of you was something I never took for granted. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything. I love you all and I will carry Liverpool wherever I go. This is not an easy way to say goodbye, but it is time for a new challenge and a new chapter.”

Fabrizio Romano has already revealed the Frenchman’s next destination, saying he is set to reunite with former team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With Florentino Perez winning the Real Madrid election, it seems that the deal will go through, and the Reds will need to bring in a new partner for Virgil van Dijk.

Iraola joins the short list of central defenders

According to a report from Caught Offside, new manager Andoni Iraola has already compiled a shortlist of full-backs, with Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio among his targets, as Liverpool look to bring in a left-footed option.

The report says the Reds need a free-flowing full-back with the ball at his feet, which means Inacio could be a signing, with scout Antonio Mango describing him as crazy at ball-handling.

However, the Portugal full-back is not the only option, with three other centre-backs also shortlisted.

The 24-year-old not only contributed to Sporting conceding 24 goals in Liga Portugal last season, the second fewest of any side, but he was also a threat on the front foot, with two goals and three assists in 29 games.

Inacio, who is about to take part in the World Cup with Portugal, has started to gain experience at the highest level, having played 31 games in the Champions League, and now he could be ready to go to Anfield.
