Leeds will make a record £50m move for the Premier League star from Tottenham

Leeds United are set to submit a club record £50m bid to sign the Premier League star who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.
Leeds are on the brink of FA Cup glory
Daniel Farke expects Chelsea to return to “very good form” after sacking manager Liam Rosenior four days before they face Leeds in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday.
Asked if he would have preferred Rosenior to have been at Wembley on Sunday, Farke said: “I think for myself and I don’t make decisions for other teams.
“First of all, you’re also sympathetic to your teammates and a really good and promising young manager like Liam.
“I am sure that he will still have a great career in management and let’s not forget how young he is, he will take it as a great experience and grow.
“You always feel for the manager and you don’t want the manager to lose his job, that’s true. But, on the other hand, we take it as it is.”
Leeds have performed well against the Premier League’s ‘big guns’ this season and beat Chelsea 3-1 at Elland Road in December before fighting back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Stamford Bridge in February.
Many Chelsea fans point the finger at the club’s owners Behdad Eghbali and Todd Boehly, whose managers they blame for discord and instability at Stamford Bridge.
Farke added: “Stability and unity and confidence and clarity in your principles, in your identity, in your goals, how you want to play, is always important.
Leeds could be without a ‘key player’ for Chelsea’s semi-final after missing training
The Whites could reach their first FA Cup final since the 1970s.
“But this does not take anything away from the fact that we are playing a team full of high-quality players with amazing skills.
“Chelsea has one of the most talented squads in world football I would say.
“Yes, maybe they were not happy with their recent results, but I think that in this game, the semi-final of the FA Cup, what happens in the league does not play such a big role.
“We are an underdog anyway, but also an underdog with a chance.”
Leeds are planning a marquee summer move for Joao Gomes
With Premier League safety secure, Leeds officials will reward Farke with a new club record signing this summer, according to journalist Sebastien Vidal, who reports that they have already ‘made a move’ to sign Wolves star Joao Gomes.
Gomes, recently acquired by Tottenham and thought to be one of Roberto De Zerbi’s first big targets in North London, will leave Molineux this summer after Wolves’ relegation was confirmed.
Vidal says Leeds are already in talks and have a ‘clear intention to close the deal’.
A £50m offer, which would blow their current record out of the water, is expected in the coming weeks.

Leeds have reportedly held talks with a number of Wolves players, but Gomes is undoubtedly the club’s choice.
At the age of 25, the Brazilian, called a ‘top talent’ by former coach Gary O’Neil, has made 31 league appearances this season, averaging 2.9 tackles per game.
That would put him at the top of the pile at Elland Road, where Ethan Ampadu currently leads the way with 2.4 tackles per game.
