Juventus ‘progress’ Vicario leaves as Carnevali opens ‘direct’ talks for Tottenham star

Tottenham are facing a number of big decisions regarding player departures before the summer transfer window closes.

The club have already seen Yves Bissouma leave north London after the Lilywhites opted not to extend his contract, with Coventry City now being linked with an interest in the midfielder.

However, the Malian may not be the only important name facing the exit door.

Another player whose future continues to attract attention is Luka Vuskovic.

The highly-rated Croatian defender remains a target for Brighton, who have already seen a number of offers rejected by Tottenham.

Although Spurs have agreed a deal to sign Jan Paul van Hecke from the Seagulls, discussions regarding Vuskovic are still completely different, with some believing that the youngster wants to leave N17 (Alex Crook).

Brighton are understood to be keen to test Tottenham’s decision, although the north London club continue to value the youngster at around £60million.

The North Londoners are showing plenty of ambition this summer.

Spurs captain Cristian Romero is another player whose future has caused a lot of speculation.

The World Cup winner remains one of Tottenham’s most important defenders, but his name has regularly come up in transfer talks involving some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Romero has been rumored to be leaving Spurs for months, but any decision on his future will have a major impact on Roberto De Zerbi’s plans.

That said, the signings of van Hecke and Marcos Senesi will soften the blow left by Romero.

While the focus is mostly on the defenders, another key member of the squad is a top transfer target for Juventus.

Juventus are ‘developing’ Guglielmo Vicario after opening talks with Tottenham

According to the Italian journalist, Orazio Accomando, Juventus have increased their interest in Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

X says the Serie A giants have started talks, with new boss Giovanni Carnevali opening ‘direct’ contact with the player’s representatives and Tottenham themselves.

Accomando added that Juve are ‘stepping up’ their pursuit of Vicario as the Old Lady look to sign a new goalkeeper.

That development suggests Juventus are getting serious about a move, despite credible links with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez.

The Turin club is entering a new era under new leadership and is looking at options to strengthen several areas of the team, and the goalkeeper is one of them.

For Tottenham, the timing is very interesting.

The club is in the midst of a major rebuilding program under De Zerbi and losing an experienced goalkeeper would pose a major challenge.

Whether Juve’s interest escalates into a formal offer remains to be seen, and much will depend on their budget and Tottenham’s stance on possible transfer fees.

If Vicario leaves, the question becomes who will replace him.

Yes, according to some reports, Tottenham have Man City’s James Trafford on their radar, and De Zerbi is a fan of the Englishman.
