How to watch the Travelers Championship on Sunday
A week after Norwegian soccer fans paddled, Viking-like, up the escalators in Boston, a Norwegian golfer is making his own game in Connecticut.
Paired with Scottie Scheffler on Saturday at TPC River Highlands, Viktor Hovland took out World No. 1 in the third round of the Travelers Championship, shooting a six-under 64 to take a one-shot lead into Sunday’s final. Hovland is 20 years old in less than a week. Scheffler, who shot a third-round 67, is right behind him, with Patrick Cantlay and Akshay Bhatia tied for third, five shots off the pace of Hovland.
Hovland hasn’t won since last year’s Valspar Championship, but he has two top-10 finishes in 2026 and has shown flashes of good form this season, which has been mixed with disappointments, including missed cuts at the PGA Championship and the US Open. Curious about his swing, and seemingly always discussing his mechanics, Hovland said he was focused on the process this week at Travelers, sticking to his routine, visualizing the shot and trying to execute without worrying about the consequences. It has been working
“It was really fun. I had a great time. You know, it’s been a while since I’ve been in this position,” Hovland said of his Saturday show. “Going head-to-head with the best player in the world and hitting some good shots, it was great.”
He has a chance to do it again today. He and Scheffler go off in the final pairing at 2.55 pm ET.
