FSG can hire a “world class” Slot facility in Liverpool

Arne Slot, Liverpool’s embattled manager, survived the 2024/25 campaign, but whether he will survive the summer is anyone’s guess.
The opposition has grown in size and volume over the past few months. It is impossible to ignore, and something must be done, sharp, to ensure that the past year does not fade into darkness.
Etiënne Reijnen, who was Slot’s assistant at Feyenoord, was reported last week to take up a new role at Anfield next season, but it is interesting that this has not been finalised, almost as if FSG are considering their options after a disastrous campaign.

Last year’s Premier League champions were unable to qualify for the Champions League, and with so many poor results, it would make sense that FSG would at least consider market opportunities before attacking the 2026/27 season.
Who could Liverpool hire to replace Slot
Andoni Iraola has decided to stop talks with AC Milan as he is determined to move to Liverpool this summer. Bournemouth’s outgoing manager has been the talk of the town recently, but FSG continue to keep their cards close to their chest.
Iraola, 43, is one of the most exciting young managers in Europe, but perhaps Liverpool’s decision-makers are wary of replacing Slot with someone who has no experience at the top level.
It’s worth stressing that the Basque-born manager isn’t the only person on the Reds’ radar, though.
An April report suggests that Julian Nagelsmann is firmly in FSG’s thinking, with the German manager’s agents holding illegal talks with Liverpool officials. He will jump at the chance to join the Merseyside outfit.
Nagelsmann could lead his country over the pool for the 2026 World Cup, but Liverpool could secure a deal after the tournament ends in mid-July.
Why Nagelsmann could be an upgrade on Iraola for Liverpool
From the outset, it was clear that Nagelsmann’s is a brilliant mind, and he has only grown stronger since appearing as the twenty-first manager at Hoffenheim, a rare feat.
Now 38 years old, he has enjoyed a variety of stints across Germany, culminating in an international stint, so it may be time for the fluent English speaker to try his hand abroad, having certainly earned a reputation as “world class“The coach, according to reporter Rory Smith.
“Guardiola’s Barcelona is my example,” said RB Leipzig manager Nagelsmann in 2019, emphasizing a style of play that will not bring back Klopp’s gegenpressing. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t want power, pressure and pressure from his player, but he has his own mixed method.
Iraola could raise Liverpool’s fitness levels, but can he cope with the demands of managing one of the world’s best and most sought-after clubs?
Hailed as “the best young coach in Europe” by journalist Josh Bunting, Nagelsmann is now growing into one of the best in the business, someone who has gathered a wealth of experience that puts him in a good position to take over Slot and make something of the things he’s been given.
Iraola may bring the high level of “rock and roll” football that Liverpool fans have been craving this season, but that doesn’t mean he will automatically qualify as Liverpool’s long-term manager.
FSG are nothing if not cautious, and will only release the Slot if there is a clear strategy in place to get the Reds back.
With Nagelsmann at the helm, they may just hit the jackpot, find the perfect balance and return to title challenger status, as fans have been hoping for.
