It is a huge boost for Eddie Howe and his side, who could reportedly land the Italian for no more than €40m (£34m) in the coming months. What is really interesting is that Fiorentina’s fears stem directly from Tonali’s move to Tottenham. La Viola clearly believes Newcastle have the resources to sign the man they want to keep.

PIF is on the right track, but it has been here before. In this case, there should be no doubt about the potential arrivals and Newcastle must complete deals such as Fagioli and Manzambi ASAP.
It doesn’t have to be a single story either. With Tonali gone and rumors starting to focus on the future of Bruno Guimaraes, those at St James’ Park should sign two midfielders this summer.
Manzambi is starting to look like a given and Fagioli should be next. The Italian is at the peak of his abilities, has an affordable price, and is ready to step into Newcastle’s midfield.
