The jaw-dropping sum represents a record-breaking financial commitment for Tottenham, surpassing the previous record set by England’s top rivals.

Spurs have built an amazing team under Roberto De Zerbi
The £100 million deal for Sandro Tonali is the latest statement of intent in what will be Tottenham’s summer transfer window.
Driven by the ambition of head coach Roberto De Zerbi, the club’s management have completely wiped out their financial constraints to fund a brutal squad overhaul following their 17th successive Premier League exit.

Prior to Tonali’s success, Tottenham won a hotly contested multi-party race for West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes in a deal worth £85m.
While the midfield signings have been in the headlines, De Zerbi has been equally aggressive in overhauling last season’s much-criticised defence.
De Zerbi has raided his former club Brighton to secure highly-rated Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke for £52m..
Spurs also signed Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka on free transfers, showing some shrewd business to add experience and quality to the squad.
