Liverpool’s new manager Andoni Iraola has identified the young Ivorian as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who left Anfield at the end of last season.
The Reds are already holding productive talks over the player’s personal terms and expect some problems on Diomande’s side, provided they can manage to strike a deal with his parent club.
Liverpool sees Diomande’s opening bid rejected
The blockbuster bid was quickly rejected by RB Leipzig, as first reported by Sky Sports and later repeated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Leipzig are keen to keep the reigning Bundesliga Rookie of the Season at the Red Bull Arena for at least one more season and are already making plans to offer the youngster an improved contract with a huge pay rise.
As it is, the amount of 90 million euros and 10 million euros is considered completely insufficient to force the sale.

The Reds already know about Diomande’s personal terms and don’t expect any problems there, as long as a deal with RB Leipzig is agreed.

In addition, Leipzig fully expect French champions PSG and other European heavyweights to enter the bidding war for multiple clubs, although the French giants have yet to make an official bid.
Can Liverpool break their transfer record again?
The aggressive pursuit leaves many wondering if Liverpool are ready to break the transfer record again.
Following the recent big deals of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, making more than 100 million for a young player represents an incredible statement of intent.
This kind of pursuit is not the same as Liverpool, however, under Richard Hughes last summer, they broke the transfer record twice.
Sky Germany reports that the Reds are not backing down and will soon return with an improved offer to test Leipzig’s resolve.
