De Zerbi could compete with Solanke by offloading new Spurs prodigy Kane

In 1977, Tottenham Hotspur were relegated from the top flight of English football for the last time. To put that into perspective, 1977 was the year Star Wars hit theaters around the world, changing the way cinema was made.
Disney’s Star Wars certainly won’t change the cinema this year, and Spurs have never enjoyed a season-defining success, instead they are in real danger of falling to the Championship, even after ending their Premier League hoodoo and beating Wolves last weekend.
With the 2025/26 campaign in its final weeks, Tottenham have only one focus: to survive this tough relegation battle and repeat their role as Premier League contenders.
However, if they are to beat one of their relegated rivals, ENIC Group will need to revamp the frontline, with the likes of Dominic Solanke flattering to deceive.
Why Spurs need to replace Dominic Solanke
In the last few seasons, Tottenham have sold Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Brennan Johnson. These powerful players have not been properly replaced.
Solanke has not provided the right kind of relief, being injury prone.

The Englishman has scored three goals in the Premier League this season, having only started 11 games due to injury problems.
He knows special moments. You’d hope so, honestly, what with Spurs paying a club record £65m. Sadly, his statement moments have been few and far between, and Tottenham would be foolish to enter the new campaign with him as their main striker.
Tottenham may be looking for a new big-money striker – if he can stay – but De Zerbi could find that they already have one of the most exciting young talents at their disposal, and the player could shine big next year, regardless of which part of the Lilywhites.
Spurs have already signed new Harry Kane
Tottenham misses Kane. That one goes without saying. The England and Spurs record player is in his third season with Bayern Munich, chasing the Champions League.

Strikers like that don’t just grow on trees, but Spurs have nurtured him from academy to forward, and lightning can strike twice with Mason Melia, who arrived in London from Ireland, aged 18, at the start of the transfer window in January.
Described by talent scout Jacek Kulig as the “Irish Harry Kane”, 18-year-old Melia has yet to make a breakthrough in Tottenham’s senior team, although he has tried to regain fitness following an injury at the start of his new career.
He may be young, but this one could be a star, having played 98 times for St. Patrick’s Athletic in his country, he scored 25 goals and provided eight assists.
A tall and limber striker, Melia has a certain Kane-esque quality about him, tough and smart and creative. He is not very fast, but he uses his speed well.
Will he match Kane’s record of 282 goals and 63 assists for Tottenham? Maybe not, but there is no doubt that this could be one of the new attacking faces in the Premier League.
Melia is yet to feature in the big league for Tottenham, but you can bet your bottom dollar that he will get opportunities during pre-season.
If Melia makes a good impression, it could be curtains for Solanke, who has been hit by rotten luck since arriving from Tottenham. However, this is not a charity but a football club that wants to come back.
Bigger flop than Solanke: De Zerbi must replace Spurs’ new Timo Werner
The head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, Roberto De Zerbi, must allow this flop to leave the club in the summer.
