Coventry are now in good shape to beat Sunderland and Fulham to shock new record signings

Coventry City are ready to steal the Premier League titles and break their club record to sign Sorba Thomas from Stoke City this summer.
Coventry are on the verge of recording Sorba Thomas
It’s a big summer in Coventry. Now that they have done the unthinkable, they have to do what many have made seem impossible over the years by staying in the Premier League.
The Sky Blues could follow either Sunderland’s plan or Burnley’s plan in the coming months, and the latter would almost certainly end in relegation.
Lured by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, the championship winners will be hoping to one-up Sunderland with surprise signings.
Meanwhile, the rumors are already coming thick and fast. Names such as Carl Rushworth have threatened to steal most of the headlines and rumors suggest he could leave Coventry permanently this summer.
It is then that he could be joined by other reported targets such as Union Saint-Gilloise’s Kevin Mac Allister – the older brother of Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister. With the pride of the Champions League, the defender would be an excellent addition.
Bid pending: Coventry City favorites to sign in summer ahead of Newcastle
The Sky Blues are gearing up for life in the big time.
Based on reports, it appears that the Sky Blues are willing to spend and may break their current transfer record, which currently sits at around £8m for Craig Bellamy from 2000.
According to Sports Boom, Coventry are leading the race to sign Thomas from Stoke City this summer and will have to pay around €25m (£22m) to do so in the coming months.
While interest from Fulham and Sunderland will put Dougie King on alert, it is the newly promoted club who are most interested in the winger.
Why Coventry should avoid £22m Thomas
To his credit, Thomas enjoyed an excellent season at Stoke. The midfielder has scored 10 goals and assisted a further 13 in the Championship, playing a key role for the Potters. But whether that warrants a £22m move to the Premier League, breaking Coventry’s transfer record, is another question.
The Sky Blues should spend wisely this summer and signing a winger who has never played in the Premier League would be a mistake and an old rookie mistake for a promoted club.

It’s a huge red flag that ten of Thomas’ 17 Championship goals in 175 appearances have come this season. Signing the 27-year-old, who is just a season away from his ultimate product, would be a huge gamble at a high price.
The good news is that it is a sign of intent from Coventry, who will know more than most what it will cost to stay in the Premier League.
