Chelsea free to hire Guardiola 2.0 for “football’s next coach”

It has been another turbulent season for Chelsea and the BlueCo, but there is no doubt that the decision to sack Liam Rosenior after a disastrous run of five straight defeats was the right one.

However, what was not talked about was the first appointment of the former Strasbourg and Hull City manager, who struggled to apply his vision at Stamford Bridge and “lost the confidence of the dressing room”, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

Now, Chelsea are in danger of missing out on a place in the Champions League, eighth in the table and seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool.

Callum MacFarlane has taken over as caretaker until the end of the season, but Todd Boehly and his team cannot afford to miss another appointment.

BlueCo is free to designate Rosenior upgrades

Rosenior ended up being appointed in disastrous fashion, and Chelsea’s setback could have major consequences in terms of their transfer fees and where they will compete on the continent next year.

At the moment, this sounds like a motley crew of disparate players, some of whom seem eager to leave. The likes of Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner have been linked as potential recruits, and although they have Premier League experience, Boehly and co could be inclined in a different direction.

According to City AM, Como’s manager, Cesc Fabregas, has been told that he is open to pursuing opportunities that may arise this summer, and with Chelsea interested, there is no doubt that this should be kept under consideration.

Whether Fabregas is the front-runner in the campaign to secure a project manager who could lead Chelsea back to the top is not guaranteed, but the Londoners are interested in their former title-winning midfielder, for sure.

Why Fabregas would be the perfect choice for Chelsea

Fabregas, 38, is growing in the coaching game, for sure, one commentator even praised him as “the next manager of football” after his work with Como, which is in fifth place in Serie A. Only in 2019, the Lombardy-based outfit was in the fourth tier of Italy.

Fabregas is accustomed to a 4-2-3-1, and his Como side not only stormed into European contention, but did so with pizzazz, holding possession and carving opponents open with surgical passing.

It is understandable that he has to work in this way, and at Chelsea, he could follow in the footsteps of his respected compatriot Pep Guardiola, who achieved fame with his ten-year tenure at Manchester City.

After all, Fabregas is a Premier League legend, one of the most creative midfielders in the history of the competition. In five campaigns at Stamford Bridge, the former Spanish international won two league titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League.

He could act out those adventures from his playing days in the cell. He could emulate Pep, who has made a name for himself over so many years, taking a team with resources but training it in a precise, precise way.

Spain has produced many maestros; stylish passing plays are ingrained in their football identity. Guardiola is the striker of such a style, the auteur of management, redefining much of how the game is played in England.

Could Fabregas be the next Iberian coach to emerge and shape the course of the Premier League in the coming years? Most importantly, he understands Chelsea and knows that this is a team that wants to win.

Furthermore, he has the brains and techniques to implement a stylish attacking game, guiding Chelsea back to prominence and putting together a club that should challenge for the Premier League and Champions League year after year.

Andoni Iraola

Chelsea are considering a move for Iraola who is a “better manager” than Arteta

Andoni Iraola is not the only one leading the charge to take the Chelsea job this summer.
