Chelsea are refusing to give up their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after seeing an opening bid rejected.

The Cherries are determined to keep the midfielder, while other clubs are monitoring his situation.
Plettenberg also highlighted Scott’s respect for top coaches.
Pep Guardiola previously described him as an “unbelievable player,” and Thomas Tuchel is said to appreciate his qualities.
That endorsement explains why Chelsea are willing to invest heavily in the midfielder who is not yet a top England international.

The Blues must avoid turning praise into overpayment
Scott would suit Chelsea’s recruitment strategy. He is young, homely, technically secure and able to play several roles.
His ability to handle the ball under pressure would give Alonso another option alongside Chelsea’s midfielders.
Anxiety is a price. Raising a £64 million bid to Bournemouth’s £80 million valuation would be a big commitment, especially for a player whose attacking output remains modest.
Chelsea should come back with a structured offer containing affordable add-ons rather than meeting the full asking price immediately.
Scott’s potential is clear, and his contract situation could end up undermining Bournemouth.
However, Chelsea must avoid paying a high-profile player based mainly on future development. A second bid is reasonable, but only within ethical limits.
