Chelsea are now in active talks with the agents of Sunderland star Noah Sadiki, as they have been tracking the midfielder since December.

A year since they splashed the cash on a number of young stars in the hope of securing their place in the top four, there is little sign that a number of those players will ever reach their full potential at Stamford Bridge. What made things worse was the arrival of Liam Rosenior to replace Enzo Maresca. Even those in the dressing room did not hide their feelings about the change of management and the likes of Enzo Fernandes stole a lot of unwanted headlines as a result.
It would be another bad time for Todd Boehly if Chelsea decide to leave another manager this summer, before they even hope to secure the right to hire.
Of course, with or without Rosenior, the show will go on this summer and significant reinforcements could come. Who will strengthen them is the big question.
Recent reports suggest that the first priority could be a Premier League star. According to Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea are in serious talks to sign Sadiki from Sunderland, opening new talks with his camp ahead of this summer.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed an excellent first season in English football after arriving for £17m last summer, doing enough to attract interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Chelsea should not rush Sadiki’s departure
The Blues have been around before the transfer window. They’ve jumped the gun several times in recent years, accepting young players who aren’t ready for the big move.

Lesley Ugochukwu is a good example. He has now been at Burnley for nearly three years since his move from Chelsea. Romeo Lavia is another example. Injuries don’t help, but it’s hard to see him having a long-term future at the club.
Now, Sadiki must not follow. After one season in the Premier League, Chelsea should be patient and allow the Congolese midfielder to progress away from the big picture. After that, they could finally welcome a player ready to take West London by storm.
The interest from BlueCo would not surprise Ben Mattinson. The Como scout compared Sadiki to Moises Caicedo last year and there is no doubt that Chelsea will be looking to repeat their only transfer success of late.
