Crystal Palace have held talks to appoint Glasner’s replacement with a 64% win rate.
There has been a breakthrough in Crystal Palace’s pursuit of an “amazing” manager, with talks now set to begin this week.
The palace is still searching for Oliver Glasner’s heir
When Andoni Iraola announced his intention to leave AFC Bournemouth, the Cherries wasted little time in finding a replacement, agreeing Marco Rose in late April, but Palace are still looking for a replacement for Glasner.
Steve Parish had hoped to appoint Iraola, with the Spaniard in charge of Bournemouth in the Europa League, but he would prefer to join Liverpool, meaning the chairman is now forced to move on to other targets.
Sean Dyche has emerged as a potential target, the 54-year-old having extensive experience in the Premier League, having spent time with Everton, Burnley and Nottingham Forest.
However, having been sacked after less than four months in charge of the Tricky Trees, and establishing himself as a manager well-equipped to fight relegation, Dyche would not have been the most exciting appointment.
On Sunday, Pierre Sage was also named as a target for the Eagles, who were said to be exploring a move, and now there is a promising update on their pursuit of the RC Lens manager.
Renewal of Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Pierre Sage
According to a report from BBC Sport, Crystal Palace will now hold talks with Sage earlier this week, as it looks like he missed out on Iraola, who is ready to hold official talks about replacing Arne Slot at Liverpool.
Interestingly, the 47-year-old is said to be ready to move to Selhurst Park, and talks with Palace officials will take place soon, but Parish does not want to rush into a decision.
The chairman plans to call his time, rather than make an immediate appointment, with a number of other executives in the running to replace Glasner.
However, the Lens boss has the most impressive career win percentage of all potential targets.

In addition, the 47-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 campaign with Lens, lifting the French Cup for the first time in the club’s history, while also finishing second, six points behind Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.
Nemanja Matic also praised the Frenchman for the work he did in Lyon, saying: “Pierre is someone you can’t have a problem with. He’s a really honest person and he’s a wonderful person. On a professional level, he’s a great coach, and I’m including his staff; it was as good as anything I’ve experienced in my career. They did a great job, and it was a pleasure because we have a good relationship.
